Former Wateroloo football player acquitted in steroid case

A former linebacker accused in the steroids scandal that brought down the University of Waterloo’s football team has been found not guilty of selling banned drugs, despite testimony against him from former teammates.

Brandon Krukowski, a 23-year-old personal trainer and former player with the Warriors, was acquitted on the charge of selling a drug believed to be Turinabol — an anabolic, muscle-building steroid .[...]

On Monday, Judge Roderick Flaherty acquitted him on that one, saying he believed Krukowski’s claim that he was only selling a legal, herbal supplement called T-Bol, a store-bought product with the same street name as Turinabol. [...]

But both testimonies failed to convince the judge that Krukowski was a steroids dealer.

The judge said missing were the drugs sold (Polini said he threw those in a dumpster after Zettler’s arrest,) and a positive drug test — Polini’s sample wasn’t accepted because he had intentionally diluted his urine by drinking large amounts of water, court heard. [...]

Krukowski maintained all he did was sell a legal herbal supplement called T-Bol, a natural testosterone enhancer sold at many nutrition stores. He told the court he still uses it to this day, to help maintain his 5-foot-11, 230-pound frame.
