Frank The Tanks First Triathlon.

As someone who has a few years of experience balancing strength training with endurance/conditioning work, I strongly suggest that you limit your weight lifting to 2 moderate full-body sessions per week, and focus on your endurance training on 3-4 other days each week. Take 1-2 rest or light active recovery days each week. Good shit brother, triathlons are cool as fuck.
Thank you bro. I love all the positive feed back. How's your rugby treating you?

Starting tomorrow I will begin training for my first Triathlon... I will continue to weight training moderately. What I'm gonna add is more cardio consisting of 5k runs, swimming and riding a bicycle. I'm not expecting to place in the top 20 or anything like that. I'm doing this strictly for fun. I'd like to redeem myself from starting my year off pretty shitty. Any and all advice on training, dieting and supplementing is greatly appreciated.

That's awesome bud! Wish more members took this lifestyle to be more athletic. I think I would probably die if I tried a triathlon but it's also 100* here. I plan on doing a mud run and the Spartan race this year but it doesn't compare to what your training for. Good luck buddy!

Lol I know what ya mean. Puttin on weight has affected my sprinting an running indurance like you wouldnt believe. I use to be qu8ck as hell when I weighed aroun 100-120. Now if I need to run to save my life, I mise well turn aroun, fight for my life, an take whats coming to me bahahah. Sad but true.....

I'm pretty sure I'm faster then ever but only for short distances. I've been doing cardio at least 3x a week though for a few years and just started running bleachers. If I had to all out give it all I got an run a mile out doors on the track I would die. Lol. I hear what your saying though. With this extra weight and getting older my back has been killing me. It's always popping. Thinking about going to a chiropractor

You would deff out run my umpalumpa havin ass lol. I would need to be shot out of a cannon in order to get off to a good sprint start. The mile wouldnt be so bad though. Id jus get on my bad pink motor scooter an ride bahahha smh.

I need to start going down to the track an running bleachers like you. Man I remember doing that shit back in high school. I use to be one of the fastest. Now it'd be a whole diff story.

I feel ya though bro. After I ran myself over with my own truck while trying to pop start it drunk smfdh, my back has always been out of whack. I know I've got to have some shit outta place cuz when the it rolled up my back, I could feel an here it crunch right under an between my shoulder blades. This us another fine example why id rather smoke weed than get tore up from the floor up on alcahol. Now days I cant even stand the taste of beer or whiskey so I dont even bother havin it in my life. Plus moe doesn't drink either which is even better.

@OdieM @Skull @Mr.B66 Ya man, I'm really hyped on this mid summer event. I'm still weigh training regularly. I'm just adding some cardio to post weight training. I will add a 5k run three days a week. On top of that I will swim in my local swimming holes and ride a stationary bike. I will
also afford myself an opportunity to rent a bike to actually ride 12. Miles once or twice before the event. I'm very very fortunate to have not only a bro on meso but a real friend in the real world named @wedorecover This guy has helped me out tremendous amounts in regards to training, diet as well as supplementing. @RodgerThat I guess the main thing I'm gonna do is have fun and admire all the finger bangers and fucksticks in the area of the tri. I'll keep you updated on how training and my registration goes.

Ya man and feel free to ask questions even the thing that seem dumb like breathing pattern during the swim can make a different if you get into a competitive position. I'd probably limit the runs to 2 5km a week with how heavy you are, running isn't something that needs to be trained directly to get better in the case of triathlons as they are lost in the swim, won on the bike and endured during the run. That's why lance Armstrong kicked ass at tris aswell he'd come out like 20th in the swim but be in 1st by 20-30mins by the time the bike was done and then even though he wasn't a great runner he'd win by a minute or two cause it's damn hard to make up 20mins on a guy in the run.

Basically don't wear yourself out running, I'd go hit a local swim spot an extra time or two over going for an extra run

Brother i highly recommend a GOOD chiropractor , i go once a month for what i call a tune up. Unless i hurt myself then i might make a special trip, but since i been getting tuned up for the past 3 years im pretty much GTG. in fact i went this morning, 1-1/2 hour drive to get there but well worth it.

I hear ya man for me it wasn't even the feeling of finishing something, I went into my first half ironman with only the goal to finish but that goal changed to not quitting mentally, which ended in the same result but it was different. It was something I wasn't going to quit on I would have crawled the final miles on the run if that meant I didn't quit, it's not a mentality I could ever replicate outside of the race but during the race having no quit was the best feeling ever and I think you'll get that Tank as you are running and your body says "hey bud go fuck yourself us muscles aren't a fan of this" you'll feel better with each step you take after your body wants to give up.
