Getting bloodwork before cycle

I want to get blood work before I start my cycloe up soon and I was wondering if I could just go to the lab (like Quest Diagnostics) and tell them what I want tested or if I have to go to the doc first and have him write it up??

give qd a call....i can't see why u would need a dr order but then again i am not a dr nor do i play one on tv....

We have Quest labs here and I was there less than a month ago. They had a big advertising billboard that showed different types of tests they would run directly from thier office without a doctor. If I remember correctly they had one entitled "Men's Health Screen" or something to that nature. It included about everything you would be looking for less a PSA test for the Prostate, which you could add for more money. I believe the cost was $210.00 though, and I'm not sure insurance would cover it if it wasn't requested by a Doc..

If you have insurance and you need to go the Doc route I just ask my Doc to run full blood work and urine screening, he's never asked me why I wanted it and has always been happy to oblige. I get one before and after every cycle.. Quick side note, on my visist/blood work a week ago they found possible evidence of kidney damage so I have to save all my piss in a 24 hour period to have a more specialized test ran to get a better picture of what happened, just goes to show you how important blood work can be.

what have u discovered about test levels b4 and after? i.e. what were your readings for test, free test?....and how many grams of aas per week did u take on that cycle? how long was the cycle? how long after your last injection did u have the blood work?

the reason i ask is that i am very interested in how aas consumption affects bodily test levels....

I found this on another site..they recommended getting the cardio-plus test done since it checks liver values..it looks goods you can have a lab near do the blood work and once the lab work is completed you can check the results online..my question is do you guys think that the cardo-plus test are enought minus the PSA test.

thanks

regarding the omission of the psa test:
they are probably recommending omitting the psa test because the liklihood of prostate cancer is so low that it doesnt warrant the additional expense....however, if u r over a certain age - definitely 40 - u need to have it done.....some urologists (including the head of the urology dept at emory university) believe that there is or may be a link between aas and prostate cancer...so because of the possibility, i might use 30 as a cutoff point if your aas usage is very heavy....

I would have the PSA test done personally regardless of age. Reason being straight up we are having these screenings done for AAS use not general health, and whether you buy into AAS causing cancer or prostate problems or not, the other side of the coin has always been if it's in your genetics AAS can bring it on sooner.

As for the answer to Tonyatl's questions:

First off, I'm on TRT(testosterone replacement therapy).
Basically my being tested before and after a cycle could be a tad misleading but this is what I do.. I have blood work ran, it comes back good I do a cycle and time it so that the start and stop(with PCT and drug clearing) fall in between a six month window. I go back in have blood work done and if it comes back good I do another cycle..This keeps me to basically 2 cycles a year, I have faultered a bit for a couple of quick 6-8 weekers instead of a 10-16 week cycle though in the past.

Regarding my test levels, My PCT has always been pretty shitty because I didn't think I had to worry about my Test kicking back in since I was on Androgel. My PCT consisted of 2 weeks of Nolva mainly to bring cholesterol levels back a bit. My Test always came back between 800-900 Free Test, except this last blood work, Test came back at 667. I asked my Doc why my Test fluctuated while on TRT and he said it's possible my own Test has dropped lower, I told him I thought TRT shut my own test down, and he said that is not necessarily true, it depends on how much test the body is willing to except before shutdown and everyone's level will be different. Now I allowed for adequate clearence of all drugs previous to the blood work but with this new info on my own test possibly being still somewhat active I wonder if my PCT fell short. This last cycle was the first time I did Tren and as I think we've all read it's supposed to shut you down pretty hard..

My cycles as stated before are generally 10-16 weeks and consist of a mix of the following but never all these in one cycle,, Test E, Test Prop, EQ, Winny, Tren, dbol. doses are moderate Tests at or below 750mg, eq 600 or lower, winny 60mg ED oral, dbol 20-30mg, Tren 60-75mg ED. I try to finish my cycles with short esters in one form or another so all drugs clear at roughly the same time then allow 6-8 weeks after PCT before I go in for blood work.

Due to the abnormality in my Test levels and a boarderline reading on a kidney value I have another full blood work scheduled first week of October. Can't remember which kidney value was boarderline but will hit Doc up for info on it this Wednesday, gotta turn in a 24hr piss sample.

Hope this wasn't too long winded and answered all your questions

that's good information.....u r managing this very well.....so u r saying that your 667 reading came after the end of a cycle and after pct (6-8weeks)? r u suggesting that your own test did not shut down during your cycle? if it came online after shutting down to give a 667 reading that is still good as normal is approx 250-1000....i wonder what it was during cycle peak....

your dr's comments about exogeneous test tolerance tie back into the 2-4 week theory of cycling...

i agree about the psa....

I'm sure my own Test production shut down during the cycle, I'm just not sure if I fully recovered before my bloodwork.

The 667 reading came roughly 6-7 weeks after my 2 weeks of PCT, and I used Tren A and Test P for at least the last 4 weeks of that particular cycle. When I start my PCT which in this case would have been one week after my last shot, I also start using my androgel again. My thoughts were that the 667 was primarily the androgel working.
