Getting ready to try TRT

New to HRT

New Member
Hey folks,

61 yo male, seriously thinking of starting TRT.

I don't smoke or drink, have worked out most of my adult life, generally eat very healthy.
My body fat was 8-10% most of my 30's, 40's (skin fold), 5 years ago it was measured at 12% on a DEXA Scan at 57 yo. My bone density was comparable to a 25 yo, except for my left hip, (and sure as shite both hips hurt when I try to squat).

The last three years I have gotten a bit of a belly, including love handles. I use to lose weight easily, now it is difficult. I had blood work done 1-1/2 years ago, and my thyroid numbers were low. I take medication every day. It helped with energy, I had gotten very tired in the afternoon.

I hadn't gotten my estrogen numbers my last visit, but my T numbers were boarder line low. I believe it, more fat, less libido. I suspect my E2 numbers are not great. I started taking creatine about 3 years ago, and damn that really helped with strength, and the ability to get a pump. I'm a big fan. Other that that, I have never used anything else.

Long-ass story, but I am ready to go the TRT route. I believe my doc will go along with it, but I am confident she doesn't have experience, especially with a male. I do like her as a doc though.
I would like to get my numbers up to a reasonable level, and them go from there.

Next, I need to find out exactly what blood work to get. I realize it is a life long commitment at this point. I don't intend to go quietly into the night.

Thanks for reading!

I just found my labs from 1-1/2 years ago, age 60. I will be getting new labs shortly.

Thanks bill.

Didn't mean to do that Tomato. My Free is low.
Are you seeing a doc about it? He'll order the right tests. Seems you would beed free, SBGH, and all that.

We're right in the same ballpark age wise. You got a few years on me. ;) You may want to look into HGH as well.

Been on three iu's a day since Oct. Running it til the end of June and then a month or two off and back on for another 9-10 months.

Indeed. Weight loss started about week 8. Skin looks better, hair is thicker, better muscle recovery from intense workouts to name a few. It hasn't helped with my sleep issues however, which is a noted effect others experience.

Thanks for the comments.
I have some nagging injuries--I want to see if it helps. The ability to work out more often would be great too.

Thanks again.
