I just started my diet on monday and I was just curiouse to see what everyone thinks as far as this being effective. My stats are 5'6" about 180. I am off cycle right now until mid april and am brigding with anavar @ 30mg e/d. My goals are to really lean out quite a bit and alteast maintain the muscle I have now, in hopes to gaining some more mass during my next cycle. I want to conitinue the same diet through the summer. My diet is something like this:
7:00 am protein drink w/ fat free milk
10:00 white rice with chicken breast
1:00 protein drink w/ fat free milk
4:00 plain white rice with tuna 1tbsp of virgin olive oil
7:00 dinner, usually either chicken, beef, with baked potato and some sort of greens
10:00 protein drink w/ water and 1 scoop of peanut butter (for the fats)
any suggestions to make this more effective would be greatly appreciative. This will be my first time trying to diet down a bit, my pics are posted under the member pic area under philburmese1 if anyone is interested.
Thank you

You might want to add 6-12 grams of fish oil. They have shown a positive effect on bf loss and muscular gain.

All in all, the diet seems pretty good. I've got it figured right around 2k calories/day and that sounds more or less right for a guy your size.

Maybe add some cardio in the morning before eating. I don't know if you're doing that already or not, just a suggestion. ECA is great for fatloss also, plus it's just fun to spend a few months jacked the fuck up. :D

BTW, you're looking good. I've seen the pics.

The only thing I'd suggest is sub the white rice with brown rice and no milk...11

The brown rice would be better. Water instend of milk too.
But it's hard to get away from the milk,,,I love it. Lots
of water bro. Also Grizz should be able to help ya alot
he just did a diet. Bob Smith is great with this aswell.
Good luck bro.

The difference between white and brown/wild rice is minimal. Both have very similar GI numbers, although wild rice will likely have some more nutrients. I would skip the rice altogether.

Then what would you eat inplace of it Bob? Just wondering,,
like the info,,,always helps. Thanks

More protein and some good fats. Im not a big fan of dieting with that high a level of carb intake. Plus, his fat intake looks virtually nonexistant. He has 1T oil for 132 calories (14g), and a spoonful of peanut butter. I cant control myself with peanut butter, but for one scoop Im guessing it equates to roughly 1 to 1 1/2 tablespoons. Im too lazy to run upstairs to check the nutrition info on that, but it might be 150 calories. Besides that, I dont think peanut butter is a very good source of quality fat.

sometimes but there is brown rice out ther that can be as low as 50 on the scale, in general white is 70 plus..

toss that potato and trade it for a yam.. I'd even keep the skim milk but only at night time..

Why skip the rice bobby boy? hell i tried that low carb thing last year and lost WAY to much size. i keep my carbs up to around 400 (all of which are low on the index) and just do cardio..

If you lost too much size, then you did the diet wrong.

With rice, it also depends on whether it is the normal 15-20 minutes variety, or the quick-cook kind. Quick-cook has a much higher GI rating.

Thank you all very much for responding. I actually am waiting on my supplement shippment to come in. I am adding 1 serving of flax seed oil with every protein shake I have, a total of three a day. Is there any other type of carbs I can eat besides rice and potato? I am trying to get very lean, but I am not going to risk loosing any muscle mass whatsoever! I also am incorporating glutamine before and after my workouts, and also an additional 10 grams before bedtime. I am taking "animal pack" multi vitamins, prostatmetto(prostate formula, I am just paranoid) and like I said before 30mg e/d of anavar to brigde before my next cycle. Is this diet something I can stick with even througha 750mg enanate and 400mg eq cycle? I am going to take some nolva and possilby arimidex to keep off the water during this time. Any more suggesions or added facts are really aprreciated.
ohh and before I forget, post workout, should I still have simple sugars during this time? I usaully take down 16 ounces of orange juice after my workouts.
Thank you

post workout? yeah you can but don't over due it - a lot of guys (that I know including myself)cut there post workout shake in half while cutting..

do a search on glycemic index, it will help you with your carb dilema

On a side note:

In my experience, this "GI Level" business with carbs is completely overdone. Honestly, I have eaten white and brown rice, white and whole wheat pasta, white and whole wheat bread, etc. and I have never seen a difference in my physique. For my body (at least in the mirror) there is no difference between 50g of white pasta and 50g of whole wheat pasta. Same with white/brown rice and white/brown bread. The only thing I notice is I feel fuller longer on wheat products and the wheat products cause less gas than the alternative.

I think the white/wheat debate is one of those "1% of your diet" debates, where eating one instead of the other might cause a 1lb difference in bodyweight over the period of a year.

I do however, eat brown rice and whole wheat bread instead of white simply because I think they taste better. Especially white bread, that stuff is shit. I will never eat wheat pasta however, I just cant stand it. I eat white or spinach pasta instead. Works for me!
