Hey guys, I was just wondering how your diet routines were going? Have you lost any weight yet? Can you post a sample of a day's food intake? Just wanted to hear from yall.

Your friend,

Mark

P.S. Grizzly, who is your favorite philosopher?

Favorite philosopher, hmmm, kind of tough. I've got a thing for the German's, though. As far as joy to read goes, Schoepenhaur takes the cake. Nietzche is also both a good read and a great philosopher. All in all, I think my favorite has to be Ayn Rand. My least favorite is Katherine Mackinnon. Fuck that stupid, hairy legged, flannel wearing bitch!

My diet isn't going quite as planned. I realize it's only been a week and a half or so, but I haven't seen much, if any, weight loss. I've actually seen weight gain since yesterday and I should be dropping water. With that said, I do believe that I'm getting leaner so who cares what the scale says? I attribute it to gaining back some lost muscle since the addition of P/S and dbol.

Today's food-

6oz tuna
4 Tbsp Olive oil
2 fish oils
(normally I would eat a ham and cheese omelette, but I was out of ingredients)

12 oz tuna
4 Tbsp Olive oil
2 fish oil

6 oz tuna
2 Tbsp oil
2 fish oil

4oz 92/8 ground beef
2 Tbsp oil

4oz 92/8 beef
1/6c almonds

4oz 92/8 beef
1/6 c almonds

4 oz 92/8 beef
1/6c almonds

6 oz tuna
2 tbsp oil
2 fish oil

Looks pretty good Grizz. As you said, you visibly look leaner even without the scale moving. Dont worry too much about the scale, even though that should start moving soon.

My own diet and training plan has been all f*cked up. I hate to cook and go grocery shopping, so thats been a stumbling point that I need to get over. Or have Jewel help me out in that regard. Training could also be going better. I havent lifted in about 2 months now (mainly stress related), so finding the motivation to do my required workouts has been a challenge.

Grizz, I know you train for fighting, but what else motivates you guys? I mean, do you hang pics of certain people on your walls, do you watch any lifting videos, or somethign else? As Im finding out, lifting at home almost is more difficult than going to the gym.

Lame excuses, I know. But Im in the process of extracting my head from my ass so that I can get into killer shape.

I can understand not liking to cook, but the grocery store? I admit I hated the grocery store this morning, though. It's about 3 miles one way and I walked. I carried back 49 cans of tuna, 1 dish scrubber, a package of Farmland cubed ham and 1lb of pecan halves. That sucked!

If you don't like cooking, do like me. Eat assloads of tuna. It's easy, quick and cook free. I also like to get 5lbs of ground, divide it up into 4oz patties, cook them all at once and then eat them for the rest of the week. Kind of sucks for about 45 minutes, but then you're home free the rest of the week.

More philosophy: I forgot to mention one of the most brilliant philosophers...if you ask me. Jean Jacques Rousseau. I love that guy. When I read his "Treatise on the Origins of Inequality" I was like, holy shit, this guy is awesome! There are just two passages that have stuck with me for the last 6 years.

The first was when he pointed out that the greatest achievement in human development was the creation of a standardized language. I had never, and probably would have never, thought about that, but it's so true. Without standardized language, the inventions of one guy would have to be rediscovered by each subsequent generation because he could not pass them on.

The second passage was when he stated that love is a method of control. He says that it is a way for the weaker sex to impose some measure of control on the stronger sex. I never thought of that either, but it is somewhat true. It certainly doesn't go over too well with women, but I can see his point.

More philosophers who suck: Spinoza, Leibniz, much of Descartes and especially Heiddeger. Hiedegger, Jesus! Talk about some rough, non-intelligble, coma laden writing.

Motivation: Actually, the fighting almost makes it more difficult for me to motivate myself to lift weights. They're not as important as they are to a bodybuilder. I have 'tard strength in a fight. It goes much beyond whatever I can do in the gym. In one fight, I managed to lift a 6'11", 295lb guy off of the ground with an underhook, despite the fact that my gym lifts are down from their peak. How I did that, I have no idea. I just talked to a guy I've rolled with before, who is a beast in his own right. I remember thinking, damn, this ol' boy is strong. He told me that I was so strong he couldn't do a damn thing and he was amazed.

Most recently, my best motivation has come from a complete overhaul of my workouts. Using the routine from JS has renewed my vigor. I'm in the gym for a very short time and I always feel great when I leave. I don't even want to leave because I feel so good and I want to keep going most of the time.

I've also lessened my poundages considerably. This is just so that I can be extra explosive with the weight and also so that I can perfect my technique. For instance, the other day, I squatted with 155 with a 5X5 scheme. It was a piece of cake, but it didn't tear up my low back and I was able to squat deep as hell. Having changed my focus from accretion of muscle mass to performance has helped keep me motivated. As long as my lifts keep going up each week, I'm happy. I'm just focusing on gaining strength which eventually translates into gaining muscle. It's really just a reversion to how I used to be. I got big by trying to get strong. Then, I started focusing too much on bodybuilding bullshit and I lost a lot of motivation.

I really dont have motivation per se, but what I do have is my time. I consider my time in the gym "my time." When I am in the gym, I dont have school, work or personal relationships bothering me. I am there for me and me only. I take my headphones and blast some tunes while I workout. No one else bothers me, unless someone needs a spot or something like that.

Also, I consider myself a very methodical lifter, so part of my motivation is to try out new diets, new routines and new stacks. Then I get to come to Meso and share my knowledge and experience. Therefore, I can say that the Meso community itself is part of my motivation. I dont have a workout partner, so I sort of see Meso as my collective workout partner. Sounds corny, but its true.

olive oil ?

Hey grizzly, what's the deal w/ all the olive oil ? Do you just take it by the
tbsp or mix w/ the tuna.
I eat boatloads of tuna myself, it is easy to get by during work, just open the
can and eat away.

pgdavid

I'm on a ketogenic diet right now, so in an effort to keep the fat and calories elevated without resorting to horseshit foods like bacon and high fat ground I eat olive oil. It was suggested to me by BobSmith. What I do it put a little bit of water in a cup and then suspend the oil in the water and suck it down.

Mark- What's up? No more talk of philosophers? Who's your favorite?

Grizzly, did you check out that link I gave you for the DAG oil? Good shit! One of these days Ill have to order some up and give it a try. Perfect stuff for quality fat intake.

Actually, my favorite philosopher is Nietzsche as well. I even have a hooded sweatshirt that says "Nietzsche" across the front that I wear sometimes when I workout.

I enjoy reading Kierkegaard, James, and Hume.

I really dont like any of the rationalists during the modern philosophy period (Spinoza, Descartes, etc.) I dont like Kant, or Hegel either.

And most of all, I dont like Socrates and Plato.

Your friend,

Mark

P.S. I had a paper published recently in the Journal of Symbolic Logic, which is published by Stanford. I have a BA in Philosophy and Political Science, and I specialized in logic and argumentation. The paper was an analysis of the Problem of Induction.

Good job with the paper. I've had some poetry published, but never any intellectual works. I'm not sure if you're right in the head, though. Symbolic logic? That class was gay and I don't see how you could love it so much.

I think Kant is somewhat alright. The professor who got me into Philosophy was a Kantian scholar. About the only thing I like from Kant is the categorical imperative. You're right and the Modern period sucked some serious ass. "But what if this whole thing is a dream? How do we know? Blah blah blah" The only good to come out of that era was Hobbes and Locke.

Bob- I didn't check out that link. It completely slipped my mind. It would be hard for me to get the stuff anyway considering I can go to Sam's and get 5 liters of Olive oil for like 20 bucks. I think that's probably an unbeatable deal.

Its all a matter of what will produce better results. No biggie though.

BTW, "Grizzly the Poet??" Who woulda thought!!

I suppose that is a good point to consider, however, I can't get with the whole newer and better philosophy that permeates the BB culture. I mean, come on! What about this new drug? How about this new supplement? Does it matter if I eat more fish than beef? What happens if I substitute oatmeal with brown rice? Will that make me bigger?

Shut the fuck up and eat your food, take some test, lift the fucking weights and grow! It's goddamn easy! If I were to do a few things differently might I be 10lbs heavier? Maybe, but who gives a fuck. I've got muscle to spare and plenty more years to do this. 10 more now or 10 more in 3 months, who cares?

Grizzly, you make a good point. Whats funny is the supplement industry thrives on that BB mentality. I mean, lets say you took an absurd amount of prohormones ED, that MIGHT equate to maybe an extra pound or two of muscle in 10 weeks. People are paying 50 bucks a month on prohormes just for the potential to maybe be one pound heavier.

BTW-these are the same teenage bodybuilders who eat potato chips and ramen all day and wonder why they cant put on weight...

Your friend,

Mark

P.S. Bob...do you drink some your fats straight, or do you add them to protein shakes? I remember when I was doing keto, I would eat high-protein meals and drink shots of olive oil. Crazy times!

Grizz,

I'm not well versed in all the philosphers, however, I think Ayn Rand rocks. A lot of mind opening thoughts in her stuff, and, interesting to read.

Mark, normally I float a T of oil on a small amount of water in a shot glass. Goes down much more easier (and less tasty) than just oil in a glass or spoon. Yuck!

I think some PHs are worthwhile and effective for people who want to get a boost but stay legal (till the govt makes those Sch. III, as well). All in all though, most supps are crap, or way overhyped. My boss will buy just about anything the guy at GNC tells him is good shit. He bought that NO2 crap and some new thing called Oxy-something-or-other. Mag10 or 1-T would be better choices than either of those.

hey fellas

My new job has completely screwed up my diet. I am not even able to break away for 5 minutes to eat sometimes. I look at the clock on the wall, and see that 3 hours has passed since my last grazing, and there is no break in sight. I start frothing at the mouth like a rabid animal! I want to kill my supervisors. Often, I go hide in the walk-in freezer or the bathroom to slam some tuna/olive oil.

Considering I have been pounding junk food just to keep calories in me, in the process I have gotten to the fattest I've ever been in my life. I might be around 15%, who knows. I am putting myself on temporary punishment starting today, and will do this for the next 7 days, or until my love handles come back to where they're supposed to be.

BS,
How does this sound?

Blended together and then shotgunned down the hatch at lightning speed:
2 servings Optimum Nutrition Whey Protein (220 cal, 46g protein)
2 tbsp GNC Flax Seed Oil (260 cal, 28g fat)
1 can tuna (150 cal, 32.5g protein)
Total: 630 cal, 78.5 protein

Is it optimal to blend the protein from the meat (tuna) with the protein from the whey source (powder)?

I will be doing this four times a day, no other meals. I don't even know what I will eat/drink postworkout, I may just punish myself and stick to this strictly for the entire week and see what happens.

I did something similar to this in the summer, and my girlfriend noticed my jawline started to become more pronounced, so I guess it can work to a degree.

No offense bro....sounds like i would be puking like a mo-fo!!!!!!!!!

It's easy, man..just pinch your nose shut the entire time; when done, hurry to the bathroom to brush and then pop a stick of gum in your mouth!!

Brushing of the teeth is very important after a tuna meal. ANd dont burp either, yuck!

It looks fine. How many times a day you do it will depend on your bodyweight, activity level, and how many calories you should be eating while dieting. In all reality, 7 days isnt gonna do a whole lot.
