i have a problem and need advise and i know I'm gonna regret saying it but i go to planet fitness yup let me have it fuckers !! lol i go bc i started working out 3 years ago so it was a good spot for me knowing nothing to go and build up strength after changing my diet and bad habits i enjoy the gym and walk in like I'm going to war .i learned a lot from older guys that used to be body builders but know that I've made a ton of gains i feel like I'm limiting myself from movin forward I'm 44 so I'm not looking to be the baddest mofo just the badest me !my question is for my age is it possible to stay there and still grow or set up a home gym i don't like makin fun of people and help when i can but its a fuckin comedy show there haha

i agree but is lack of free weights gonna limit me a lot ? theres very little free weights but i use them over machines whenever i can smith machine sucks but its all they got i make the best of it but was consider buying a real bench and quat rack if will make a big difference

haha fuck that alarm I'm there so much i know all the workers so they don't care they should applaud people for putting effort and pushing themselves instead they rather charge new people and watch them do all they shit wrong then serve them pizza!!!! wtf

Are there no other gyms in the area? I've only been in a planet fitness once and I just don't think it's a very conducive environment for getting stronger. Fine for begginners, but if you've been lifting 3 years I think you've probably outgrown that place. I'm no expert, but just my thoughts.

It's so wrong...

But at the same time, fucking genius.

They'll feed you junk food, but won't let you drink out of a gallon jug or grunt otherwise they'll sound the lunk alarm.

What a fucking joke. Even though I go there before work when it's dead. Heck, can't complain too much considering it's only $10/month.

yeah there is other gyms but i don't have the time to get to them i have two young kids and raise them myself so in between two jobs soccer and school i go its rt next to their school and soccer fields so it works . some days i go 3 times just to get a workout in !

Don't their dumbbells only go up to 60 lbs? I couldn't fuck with that place. But if it works for you then by all means do your thing brother.

I am in agreement. Places like Planet Fatness are geared more to beginners so once you move past that stage time to look for a better gym.

There's one Planet Fitness near me that had decent equipment as it used to be a World Gym and had one squat rack, a hack press, 2 leg presses and 3 benches. DB's went to 80 (which is respectable). Worked out in that one for a while while I was unemployed...10 bucks a month wasn't bad.

Now I work out in a much better gym in my town now that I landed a decent job.

Yeah I've heard tell of a few like that which actually have some decent equipment, but for the most part it's just horror stories of free pizza Fridays and alarms going off for lifting too heavy

Actually at the one I used to train at the lunk alarm practically never went off even with the high school football kids going heavy on bench and squat. The people who ran that one really didn't give too much of a crap about that.

Yep, was lucky there was a decent PF around as there's 3 of them near me with the other 2 just plain crappy PFs. I use that as a backup gym still.

I'm fortunate enough to live in a relatively small town with just two none chain gyms. The one I go to has just about everything you could ask for in terms of both free weights and machines. Little pricier but it's worthbit
