I bought a Glock 19 and SW Shield Plus at the same time. The Glock trigger feels cheap and much harder than the Shield. What is my favorite hobby outside of the pain cave? Building firearms. I love it. I don’t want to post pics due to security concerns, but I have a safe with enough firepower to make John Wick sauce his undies.
I actually just finished up a build on a .458 SOCOM last week. It has some massive knock down power. I built it with the intention of using it for thinning out the wild pig population. The ammo is ridiculously expensive though.
Other than that, I’ve built ar-15s and ar-10s of all calibers, configurations, lengths, and purposes. I shoot a franchi for bird and turkey and I have an assortment of long range rifles for deer and other wild game.
Handguns….all I own is Glock. My main carry is a Glock 43 x. It’s perfect for concealment and I don’t see a need for more than 10 shots. If I’m in a situation where more ammo is needed, it’s gotta be a war type situation.
A trigger upgrade is definitely an option if you want something with a little bit heavier feel and smoother squeeze. Apex has a nice trigger selection for Glock 19’s. They aren’t overpriced and are a nice upgrade.I bought a Glock 19 and SW Shield Plus at the same time. The Glock trigger feels cheap and much harder than the Shield.
Truth is the Glock just sits as I prefer training with the SW. Is the Trigger a common part to upgrade or do I just need to get used to it?
Haha. That's the truth. Same thing goes with 1911's. There's not much of a group that's in between. I honestly wasn't a huge fan of the Gen 1-3 Glocks because of the grip size. I'm naturally small framed and small jointed, so I have smaller hands, and a disproportionately large penis. The grip size was a little cumbersome because of my hand size and that made it uncomfortable. When the Gen 4's came out, they made it where you could change out the beavertail grip to make it narrower or wider, and that's when I became sold on them. It’s funny, guys either seem to be all Glock, or hate them.
My first pistol ever was the Ruger EC9s and I’ll never get rid of it. It’s nice and concealable although I must say when I first took it to the range took me awhile to get used to the snap. I had to put the pink extension on the mag. Ive pocket carried it mowing the grass and doing shit in the yard during the summer while the kids play outside. Anyway since then I’ve bought the Ruger LCP and the Ruger LCP II in 22lr and I love that little pistol lol I’ll be getting the LCP max at some point In the future. I kinda turned to Glocks as time went on and fell in love with AK over the AR platforms. I forgot to mention I also have the Ruger 10/22 and been looking at the Franklin armory binary trigger for it - look that up on YouTube!I'm not a collector by any stretch or sight but I have a variety of styles and calibers. I am a concealed carry guy, too.
My carry firearms are mostly 9mm, I prefer small compact and light. My go-to is a Ruger EC9s; it agrees with me, I know it well which is important of course. But overall for a 9, I just enjoy shooting my S&W Shield. It's a ton of fun.
I also hunt, both midsize game and varmints. Nothing fancy but I've got a Mossberg 500 combo for deer, wild boar and larger fowl near home and for Elk on my trips to the Rockies of the Western US. I use an old Sears brand 20g for quail, pheasant and the occasional rabbit. But mostly I use my trusty 1965 10/22 for hare and squirrel. I don't hunt anything I never intend to eat, just have to throw that out there.
Side note regarding hunting, I also do bows - recurve, compound and cross, just depending on the season or mood.
But yeah man, gun on, gun masters out there, wherever you are.
Sigs are great too!! One of my buddies is a Sargent for a local police force, and uses an Sig 40 as his duty gun. I should probably give Glock another try, too many people that know way more about guns than I do swear by them. I do love a 1911, especially some of Kimbers stuff, I was shopping Kimbers when I found those FNs, and twice the capacity is why I ended up with the FNX, but they’re wayyyy to big and heavy to carry and conceal, but they shoot great, so I use them for home and truck guns.Haha. I've had a couple sigs that I liked as well. They were very good shooting pistols. FNs are foreign to me, so I'm very ignorant when it comes to talking about them. I've never shot one or held one if my memory serves right. I'm not completely sold on only using a Glock for the rest of my days; I'm open to trying some different manufacturers, but that's a big step to take for a man to take. It would like trying to date after getting a divorce.
