Had a Heart Attack today at age ~30. Be safe guys.

ive been doing flaxseed oil because all the stuff about fish oil being oxidized and all the conflicts of interest in the research, there was that huge huge campaign years ago to promote fish oil which is essentially a waste product , and then they found a use to sell it imo, they wanted to put it in school lunches and everything and make it a legit dietary requirement, and like ghoul said, some things basically falsely raises HDL
anything that is basically a waste product then find a way to sell it is suspicious to me, like all the strange seed oils

If you need to lower triglycerides, icosapent ethyl (vascepa) is the proven way to do it. Essentially ultra pure, non oxidized pharma grade fish oil.

But that’s EPA only, The safest form to get DHA from “vegan fish oil”, made from algae. Or eat small oily fish like sardines.

Not mine, i said that exact thing to my cardio and he said my triglycerides were fine so no reason...

Damn that sucks. I got mine from my PCP without even having checked my bloodwork yet. She just saw that I was taking OTC and I actually said "it's really expensive, can you give me a script?" and she was like "sure". Maybe because I'm over 45? idk how old you are but might be worth just asking your GP about it.

No, but if you don’t eat fish a couple times a week, getting 250-500mg / day EPA+DHA is good for eyes and brain. For cardiovascular health, it’s otherwise not helpful.
Welp I’ve been taking 3g daily for like 2 months now to boost HDL. I guess it’s time to cut that out. Especially if it can raise LDL and I have high LPA so def don’t wanna do that

This sentiment is echoed in all the most recent cardiovascular guidelines, and not specific to any condition, I just grabbed this one because I have it at hand. Bear in mind, these types of statements aren’t made by “feels” or based in some lofty anti-OTC bias, they’re conclusions drawn from decades of credible research designed to establish whether a benefit exists.
