Bro, same problem here, in fact I was thinking of posting a thread on this myself after doing a search and coming up empty. I have never snored before and just started about a month ago. My girl says it's bad. She can't sleep, wears ear plugs but they are hurting her ears, so it's couch city for me.

A few times she says I stop breathing completely and the there is a loud gasp for air. Sleep apnea she says, I thought I was alone but my suspicions could be right after reading your post...might have something to do with the 25 lbs I've put on since December :D She says sometimes she catches me snoring while I am awake, just watching TV!

I get up in the night a couple times to take a leak and I always have cotton mouth. I have tried Snore-Aid, Breath Rite nasal strips and others, but no luck. I hope it stops soon, I am about to start cutting and cardio so I think that will improve my sleeping and eliminate the snoring.

WTF is up with this bros...anyone else???

Hey bro, sleep apnea is no fucking joke. the two proceures i had done to fix it were a septoplasty(SP) and a uvelopaletioplasty(sp). Basicly opened up my nasel passages as well as my throat and then took out my tonsils. But i was bad i had a sleep study done and they told me i stopped breathing 47 times an hour. people die from this. so go to your docter if this is a real problem for you. my girlfriend noticed mine and thats what caused me to go to the docter last october. i was always tired...not just a little tired but if were to relax a little while i would be sleeping. now i sleep like a baby my sleep apnea is treated and i feel so fucking great in the morning! It's like i'm starting life all over.

Same problem here. I usually wake myself up snoring 1-2 times a night. That sucks.

This lil fella is snoring...:o
:D

If dieting and cutting dont fix the apnea problem, and you dont want surgery, you can buy a thing called a CPAP, I think... It is a mask you wear over your face while you sleep... It provides positive pressure and solves the problem instantly... of course your girl may not like the idea of waking up and seeing you looking like an astronaut....

They are expensive as well, but I am pricing used ones on Ebay... I will get a new mask of course, but a good used one can save you a thousand or more...

Highoutput - I know it's no joke. I read up on the sleep apnea and I don't have any of the other symptoms except the breathing problem. I am not tired during the day or falling asleep at my desk, so I think I will be OK when I drop about 10 lbs and get regular with cardio again. I was reading about one guy who was getting the equivalent of 2 hrs of sleep a night even though he was sleeping for 8 hrs due to the apnea. If it's not cleared up by mid April I'll go see a Doc.

If you have health insurance they will cover the cpap. you'll probably have to go see a couple of doctors first.

I'm glad someone posted on this topic. I too never had a snorring problem until on my last cycle. I put on 25 lbs and now I'm sure that was the cause. Currently cutting and that has helps ( dropped 7lbs.) and the snorring is no where as bad.

As far as sleep apnea goes the increased weight gain causes the airways to close thus you stop breathing for periods and the snorring. As mentioned before there are two ways to fix sleep apnea 1)surgery or 2)CPAP . Surgery is not for everyone and you need to be evaluated by a sleep specialist. It you suspect you have sleep apnea go to for family practice doc tell him you symptoms and ask him to send you for a sleep study. He should if he's worth anything send yo to a sleep lab for a sleep study. The doctors at the labs are sleep specialist and will be the ones to tell you if you need surgery or CPAP. If you get a sleep study done and the doc determines you have sleep apnea and recommeds a CPAP you insurance should pay for it. There are many different CPAPs and masks that go with them. Based on the sleep study the doc will determine the exact pressures that the machine needs to be set on to correct the patients sleep apnea. All that a cpap really is , is a fan in a box - it forces air though the nasal passages thus keeping the airways open allowing the patient to sleep and eliminating the snorring. I wouldn't buy a CPAP off Ebay - the machine needs to be set ( as for the pressure ). If you buy one from Ebay make sure it comes with the manuel that explains how to set the pressure on the machine, if not the machine is just about useless. As for the mask that go with the CPAP they come in many sizes and the patient needs to be sized for the mask and also the patient really needs to try them on to determine comfort. CPAP is an effective cure for snorring and sleep apnea, also weight loss has been know to help ( but we all know none of us want that).

Hope this helps bros, FYI there is a ton of info on the net on sleep apnea.
