Has anyone had success with TRT in Philadelphia or nearby?

I just returned from my initial visit with Dr. Shippen in Reading, PA. It only took about 1.5 hours from suburban Philly. Very easy to find. Had to wait 2 months for an appointment. Great guy. Very informative. I don't know if he is taking new patients right now. There are other anti-aging docs and clinics in the area but for the short ride, go to the best. His number is 610-777-7896.

Thanks a lot.

I called their office, but they were closed. I'll call again tomorrow and inquire.

cbarr, would you mind if I e-mailed you so we could talk about how this physician is treating you?

I'm also looking into Doctor Walter Schwartz in Springfield, PA:

I have a couple others on my list too.

Sure, I don't mind. I am at chrisb595@comcast.net. I can tell you what Dr. Shippen's thoughts were based on my labs.
As for Dr. Schwartz, I just figured why not go with one of the best since the distance was really not an issue.

He follows the Shippen protocol ;). I have heard that he has tried a number of different approaches. I know that he is very familiar with HCG and even uses it exclusively in some patients. I have even heard he has tried subq test. But I haven't heard directly from the source....

Yes, I have heard this multiple times, so I assume it to be true. On the one hand, the absorption rate might be more favorable. On the other hand, injecting oil sub-q is perhaps not a good idea.

Yes he did mention sub-Q test injections as something he was looking at. I gave him a copy of Swale's protocol. He was skimming through it noting ideas he agreed with and felt Swale had a pretty good program down. Then he said he remembered talking to him at one of the aging conferences - said he held back so he "didn't give all his secrets away." Overall, he certainly gave me confidence in his knowledge on this subject.

LOL :D

Sorry, but I just found it funny that SWALE is donating all kinds of time to this Board (and participating in other Hypogonadal Boards) and openly publishes his current state-of-art protocols for TRT and is even gladly willing to work with local doctors all around the country (in effect "training" them in current advanced protocol for TRT).

Meanwhile Shippen (who I do highly respect as a prominent pioneer in the TRT field) recalls "holding back" so he "didn't give all his secrets away".

Large difference in philosophical approaches there. While Shippen is treating a (relatively speaking) handful of hypogonadal males in advanced TRT, Doctor John is seemingly trying to get top levels of treatment to the whole world of hypogonadal males.

Oh well, different strokes for different folks.

Larry
