Has Social Media Ruined Society

has the impact of social media on society brought us closer together or driven us further apart? are we more connected or more isolated?, share your thoughts.

It has crumbled society in every way. The instant gratification has created dopamine addicts of everyone. The indoctrination and brain washing of people to ideologies is so prevalent there hardly exists an independent thought. It has made relationships less meaningful and is terrorizing people to believe everyone will fuck them over. The AI aspect of it is replacing creativity and fooling people into believing it is ok. All of the apps lend themselves to cheating, dishonesty, disingenuous acts, and all around counterfeit behavior.

But worst of all it has facilitated the systems control of all of us through consumerism and convenience. The illusion of freedom the illusion of choice has been fully cemented. There is no democracy, no self governance, and no agency. It is all horrible.

"Social" media has made people, women more specifically...think they have more worth than they actually do. Everyone is an "influencer", attention whore, literal whore, will pull out their phone to record a public crime instead of acting like a reasonable human being. Doing anything for clout or attention. It also has greatly inflated the value of pussy because of all these low t beta males and simps that pay women just to talk to them.

The membership of 2 forums is my only "social media".

Many argue that social media has fundamentally changed society, but I believe it simply reflects the diversity of viewpoints and ideas that have always existed, just outside of mainstream visibility. Social media platforms serve as a vast mirror, reflecting the myriad opinions, beliefs, and experiences of people worldwide. Previously, our exposure to diverse perspectives was limited by geographical boundaries and media gatekeeping. Now, social media has removed these barriers, allowing voices from all corners to be heard. It hasn't changed the nature of societal discourse but has made visible what was always there—complex, multifaceted, and diverse. The true societal shifts lie not in the medium but in our newfound awareness and exposure to the global spectrum of human thought.

Fun topic.

No that just is not the case. If anything it has eliminated the diversity of thought by consolidating it all into two unflinching ideologies and pushing everything else out onto the fringe. The illusion is in choice and expression. You can express yourself as an individual into whatever niche stylization they choose as long as it is an extension of the system itself. Both these ideologies are weaponized against us so we point our weapons at each other rather than the actual owners of the system. Ideologies are the antithesis of free thinking, independent and critical thought. The truth is we are all slaves in the system and the cogs that up hold it. There is no escape nor is there any chance for revolution.

The short answer is yes

Creates artificial, superficial perceptions

Algorithms biased towards eliciting negative emotional responses and outrage. People are increasingly becoming political pawns across various issues.

Could go on a long rant, but I just don't have the energy right now. But the short answer is yes, social media is a cancer to society, and mental health.
