When I work out I focus on duration and weight I've never really thought about heart rate.
When doing cardio what's the target heart rate to burn fat?
And when lifting what's the average target heart rate to insure a good workout?

Neither matter at all. When doing cardio, your goal is to burn as much energy/calories as possible. It makes no difference if those calories are from carbs or fat.

When lifting, heart rate has nothing to do with whether youre getting a good workout or not.
 
Thank you, that saved me $100.00, almost bought a hreat rate monitor watch thinking it would help make the work out more effective.
 
Thera are many "optimal" fat burning heart-rate formulas for cardio. Imo forget them. The best way is to rotate your cardio with easy and fasted methods. That way you have the advantages of both worlds.
