Help brewing L carnitine

Guys can someone help me out with my little brew? I brewed my l-carnitine at around 500mg/ml, but this time I get fucking pip for a couple of days. Like really bad. I thought l-carnitine auto adapts its PH? what could have went wrong? Any idea on how to fix the issue?
At 200mg/ml L Carnitine PH is usually around 7.5 . When you increase concentration to 500mg/ml PH usually increases to around 8.5 .
You need PH meter . Use HCL, synthetic vinegar , L Carnitine HCL or Glutathione to bring it back to 7 .

Anything with PH of 7.8 or more and below 6ish will give you pip.
 
That’s what I did with first batch. I think I was bit too aggressive with dialing in exact PH of 7-7.4 .

I should stop mid around mid 6 . For more precise PH starting with phosphates buffer solution is better choice.
If your PH is above 7 there is still some NaOH that is still present. I have used 7.25 with no issues. 6.5 is probably best.

so if the pH is too high, I just add more water and dilute it down until it matches a pH of around 7? Are you using an electric pH meter or the paper strip ones?

What dose do you want to take? Most people start out at 500mg but some like 200mg. That is where you want to start. Its much easier to mix 500mg/ml and then take a small or larger volume of liquid based on your needs. A small number of people get knots with 500mg/ml they should stick with 200mg/ml (which is typical pharma dose).

If you are okay with lower dose then you can dilute it and see if you get a PH of around 7.5

It is still a good idea to learn how to PH balance with acids and base. Keep USP HCL and NaOH handy.

I use both PH strips and 2 different digital meters (just to make sure my PH is on the mark).

I have not researched L-Histadine . Did you use L-Histadine or L-Histadine HCL? Its the HCL form that usually messes up PH . If PH is off you will get a pip. If concentration is too high it will leave a knot.

What filters do you use for l-carn? I've been reading that mostly everyone uses pes.
When I look up pes compatibility chart it says they don't work for BA.

Where do you get USP grade HCL and NaOH?
All I can find is food grade.

I'm thinking for my first brew I'll just use glutathione to low the ph like you suggested in the earlier post

Using glutathione for PH adjustment is fine. It is very acidic so you want to dilute and use small amounts at a time to avoid making PH too low.

Aminos like Carnitine are very stable at room temperature or in fridge. Once you make dial in PH, it doesn't shift much. Glutathione, NAD and some of the other compounds and peptides are very unstable - they degrade and PH tends to shift around. You have to use PBS with them or learn to enjoy pip :-)

Do you only use PBS to buffer glutathione? I've seen recipes that use NaOH but not PBS
 
Latest consensus on Glutathione brewing thread is that PBS 1x along with NaOH produce best results.

I used NaCL with NaOH, both liquid form for glutathione.
If your concentration is low you probably don't even need NaOH.
No PBS.
 
How much bicarbonate for raising PH ?

The 8.4% braun vials i tried to mix my glutathione with, but it did zero for less PIP. so 8.4g per 100ml was not enough.

20g bicarbonate? bought ph strip as well so will see
 
Here's a recipe using ba instead

100 ML @ 500mg/ml

59ml Distilled Water
50G L-carnitine base
1.5ml Benzoyl alcohol (1.5%)

Make sure dw is warm when mixing with the ba or it can be cloudy then use a .22um filter syringe preferably a whatman filter
This calculation is with moneqular mass correct?

I tought one would use 100ml water and 50g powder and that would be right but then see people use the moneqular mass as the solution will grow in ml by adding the powder

How come you use 500mg and not 600? 700-900 becomes like jello right, are 600mg fine?

1200mg is minimum for me to really get a great effect

Are you trying to say “molecular” mass?

Feels like you’re over complicating this.
