Help with a few tweaks to routine....

There are a few things im still looking to work out in my routine. Other than these few, I think I have it pretty much down pat. I'd appreciate it if you'd give me some insight.

1 - Shoulders

I do standing BB overhead presses which I will be leaving in. My other exercise is upright rows. I did standing DB overhead presses and I really liked them. Do you feel upright rows are better for getting some mass on the shoulders tho or would DB presses be better.....or will the difference be negligible and I should just do what I prefer?

2 - Back

Other than BB Rows and Chins, I do T-Bar rows with the BB and a free handle. I do DL's on leg days. Instead of T-Rows, I was thinking of doing something like hang cleans....but would this be a good alternative? I've asked this before on other forums and was told to keep the T-Rows as the hang cleans (altho good) would not be so great because of the high chance of injury. Do you folks feel the same about this?

3 - Actually....that's it....lol

Thanks for the help.

if you know what you are doing, cleans are really safe, and if you haven't done them seriously before, you will be amazed at the new back and shoulder development that goes along with it. try snatches too.

-in my opinion heavy db overhead presses would help build mass on the shoulders. upright rows are good but hit the traps quite a bit. also, it's difficult to put up a bunch of weight while during upright rows without sacrificing form and risking injury (to put on mass you need to lift heavy weights).
-if you can perform the proper hang clean movement then do it. if you're lifting for strength and power it's a good lift. if you're lifting to be pretty i would avoid hang cleans. if you've never done it before i would seek some assistance first. have you tried pulldowns or seated rows for your back?

1) I think adding in db press is frivolous since it's really just duplicating the OHP's. Like Monsoon said, cleans would be a good choice. Hell, put them together and do a clean and press. Do clean and jerks if you can manage the techniqu(I sure as hell can't).

2) Personally, I think T-bar rows, even when done with a bar and a handle, suck major donkey balls. I'd ditch them and never look back, if I was you.

Continuing with that, if you absolutely feel the need to keep the TBAR, I would advise switching to the JS Row. If you are unsure of the JS, there is a sticky at the top of this forum explaining.
