College is going alright, funds have been limited been I'm pushing through it all. 3.5 GPA at the moment, hopefully pushing it to a 3.75 for this semester.

I start a couple of core CIS/CS classes in the spring, finally getting surgery scheduled for mid-january.... Getting my ass back into the gym again shortly after, and possibly going on cycle 8 weeks before spring semester ends, as long as my body responds well to restarting all of this... I miss being jacked :(

If you're reading this, hope you're doing okay! I'll be back in soon, I'll be here more frequently once I have time to catch up with everyone and relearn a few things I seem to have forgotten about cycling/dieting since I've been off. My body is doing very well from being off for a year and half, roughly. I'm just squishy and lost weight...

What's up man!!! Glad to hear life is moving forward for you. Hope your return to the gym kicks some ass, too.

Jacked can come and go a little bit, that cash is more important imo. You'll find plenty of it after you graduate with you're focus of studies :)

I hope so! A few friends of mine in IT told me the initial degree program that I was enrolled in, MIS, was useless for me. I changed it to IAS.

Also figured out what I want to do later on in life, bioinformatics. I want to work with CRISPR/CAS9 technology and find a way to eradicate disease, mine in particular. That's WAY down the road though

Awesome to see you stuck with school and sounds like you're doing well.

And way to go on the GPA! I wish I could keep mine that high lol

Fuck a bunch of muscle...get that paper boo boo....you have the rest of your life to get jacked. Stay focused on your studies an get you a great career in life....Dont end up at a dead end hole in the wall SawMill job like me for the rest of your life.

Burgeoning area to study, could hold the thread to human survival given the rise of super bugs we have no answer for. I think medicinal chemistry has reached the limit of diminishing returns. The new medicine will involve direct gene makeovers. Hope there us enough money around to support post grad programs for you.

I hope so too. At the rate these incompetent doctors are throwing antibiotics around, we're all screwed if enough people don't take to a collaborative effort between biology and computer science... DNA and binary coding are quite relatable. I noticed that before I ever knew of the existence of such a field which I immediately googled and discovered. I've been interested ever since.

Not sure if it's incompetence or corruption, big pharma has a lot of power and profit at stake.

Problem is the approach you are following will cost billions to develop, private industry will have to foot the bill so it will not be immune to the same financial hijacking as medicinal chemistry is/was.

Well, I think you're right. I'm sure bureaucracy will inevitably complicate things, religious fanatics' heads might explode... public awareness and transparency, in my mind, would solve any issues of impediment. Distrust in government is growing, people are sickly, this will increase exponentially, there would likely be incentives involved from government entities which myself and colleagues may benefit from denying due to what it would imply to be funded in such a way...

Thinking of the incompetence of a politician when it would come to such a subject as bioengineering something so remarkable gives me a very big headache... I don't know even 99.99% off the information required to begin working with the technology already in existence, let alone creating new constructs to go about manipulating the immune system of a human being...

There's little work done yet on the microbiome that exists in our gut, which is becoming more of a curious target for immunotherapy.

In short, there's a great deal of work to do!

I see a need to continue the relationship between human and bacteria; us, as the host, and "good" bacteria is a defense system... but adding in our own genetic codes to these bacteria, as well as our own code, and possibly new microorganisms, with new coding of our own creation.

The next step in our evolution is to become gods of new forms of life, and to merge with it. Merging with our technology will not only accelerate our evolution, but allow us to get off this planet and harbor our existence on foreign star systems. As of yet, with our shit immune systems and squishy biology, we would have trouble escaping our own solar system. Not to mention expenses, lack of a plan, and the government influence over such a plan to begin with... this will be anything BUT easy.

A good example of the kind of humans our world needs is a man named Elon Musk, who I'm sure you've heard of.

Haha talking about gut microbes I see they are inserting human excrement to build up gut microflora in humans, yikes.

On the religious I actually remember the massive religious protests, threats and violence associated with the first IVF treatments.

Now there are literally tens of thousands of Christians lined up for a test tube baby.

Pure fantasy but I think future humans will be part inorganic ie cyborg style with a genetic make up not found in nature, seems inevitable to me.

Yes! Superstition may one day be our downfall if science isn't put on the forefront of public educational importance, and at a young age... I see a lot of change, and it's safe to say I have a great vision for the future.

You are 100% on the dot, you just aren't so confident in your guess because you aren't aware of current research and projects already underway. This will happen.

Unfortunately as far as the general public is concerned it going the opposite direction.

The more dependent we become on science and technology the more scientifically illiterate the public become.

I blame the internet for making the human race dumber. Just look at ken Ham's ark park funded on the public dime.

You seen idiocracy the movie?

Haha! I could go on for days about what I see happening and what's on the horizon... I can tell you that in my opinion, only my opinion here... that anyone who refuses to learn to program, or can't do math, can't communicate proficiently in English, Spanish, or Chinese... darwinism is coming. You can already see the statistics on job choice/income/poverty, and the rise of robotics coming to take over the work force... so many will be without jobs. Our education system is falling apart and trumps administration is enabling it and accelerating it to date... this is everyone's last chance to hop on board the train because opportunity won't be around for anyone who wants it for much longer. These fucking politicians don't care about low income folks and they show it in their words AND actions

Have you seen the results of international testing for math STEM etc in kids. The US is consistently bottom tier. If it wasn't for smart migrants many of which are prepared to work for lower conditions the west would be the third world.

China, India, Singapore etc climbed out of the shit because of their investment in science/STEM.

You can't find a US congressman as far as I can tell who is not a theist at least or an evangelical crazy. The more crazy irrational conspiratorial shit they push the better for their careers.

The thing I don't get tho in the most shit poverty pathetic states you find the biggest populations of unhealthy, uneducated destitute right wing supporters and bible bashers. The worse their position is in life and the more dependent they are on gov hand outs and wefare they become the more they reject social policies, believe in god harder and the more they support policies to end gov hand outs, public health, gov aid they depend on and the more willing they are to pick up a gun to fight for the people that give no fucks about them, in fact they make those people rich.

Retarded.
