for all the boneheads at the gym january 1st?

I might make the national news this year or just workout in the AM and weekends, still trying to decide..

Yet another benefit of having my gym at home! None of the dumbass clownshoes showing up for the first 3 months of the year.

My gym gets so packed this time of year, you can't even train.....no joke.

I'll be sticking to my personal rack in the garage for a couple of weeks until the BS dies down. I can't stand crowding in the gym, especially jackasses that don't belong there.

i agree totally. but down here you cant train on mondays its like every ass clown comes out of the wood work to train the same time as me. i guess its just a guilty feeling left from the weekend. You guys with home gyms how much was your investment and what are some good sites to get equipment. I want to start one up at my house due to the lain brains that crowd the gyms and dont know the difference between a dealift and a squat.

yep...there's more than just one resolutionary at my gym come january. i kind of get a kick out of it because i try to figure out who will last past the typical 4-6 week span.

have a nice day

I bought most of my equipment from www.nybarbells.com. A basic cage (which had to be sorta customized due to ceiling limitations) was $250 or 300. The bench was $100, I think. Weights I bought locally. NY Barbells offers free shipping on certain items, so be sure to look for it. I would have bought locally if it hadnt been for the free shipping. S/H from NY to where I live would have been $100+ for the cage alone.

i know what yall mean, i used to work out at golds and it was so damn crowded in the afternoons, there was actually at least one person on everymachine, everycable, every bench and military press bench, and squat rack, not to mention all the fucktards hanging around the dumbells. i had to go back to the gym i ever first worked at, there is hardly any women that go there cause it doesnt have all that other fancy shit like tanning beds, aerobic classes, etc., not saying that i dont like seeing a tight sexy women in leotards but shit, if i wanted to go look at women, id go to a bar or a strip club or something, i go to the gym to workout

I work part-time in a college gym and yes, the fringe benefit of being able to hang out with a bunch of hot 20-year-olds is nice. But when it comes to training I wouldn't touch that place with a 20-foot pole in January or any other month. My basement gym rules!

home gym all the way. Dbc, I have a power rack and also adjustable olympic dumbbells from jesupgym and a dip belt for weighted chinups. B/n these i can cover the basics and it is awesome being able to lift whenever you want to whatever music you want.

LMAO....Stop pretending you have real weights at home Bob.....your hand and forearms don't constitute a home gym system! So stop being a damn wanker! J/K bro!

Well, for us "big guys" we just kick the small guys off the equipment. So the crowds aren't a factor for me. I mean, half of the people there yap the entire time anyhow. All they do is really occupy space.

True that.

Why did you have to remind me  there are too many cocksuckers at my gym anyways... Pencil necks who will run for equipment,, I am going to another gym!!! my sanity will be lost if I dont.

The weekend sounds like a good option for me...

I respect you guys. My weights are sitting in the basement. I just can't get motivated at home (maybe its the kids running around...). 7AM is a good time at the gyms, but maybe that's too early for you partying young'ins. ;-)

In all seriousness, when the gym gets real crowded, I change the order of what I do to avoid waiting.

Kinda reminds me of when I was in the military,on a carrier. The day before we would hit a port it was impossible to get a workout in due to the "day before wonders" who thought they would get "BUFF" for the ladies. You should have seen some of the guys .... other than the day before a portcall some of these guys idea of weightlifting was lifting their plates from the chow line to their table.

yeh, the first of the year sucks.. but i'm a trainer at the university i go to... and just about all the .girls make their new years resolution to come to the gym.. so it works just fine for me.. except when they people ask "how do i lose 14 pounds without dieting in a couple weeks"....

vomit...

lol

I have had a Squat rack by "Body Solid" for 8 years...It is the walk in type with adjustable spotter bars "keeps me from mashing my head and chest in...you can pick up benchs and steel weights from your little shopper papers...i have got some really good deals from those..just look thru them each week...I also bought a nice pully setup from a thrift shop...after 8 years i have bought so much that i only have room for half of it in my weight room...rugdr

What I hate most are the pieces of shit who stand around talking the whole time. You'll be attempting a new p.r. in the squat or deadlift and just as you begin the lift you'll hear the morons arrupting in laughter talking as loud as they can about thier weekend. And then at my gym there are always groups, like five, six guys all sitting around the dumbell racks chatting and only once in a while taking a break to bounce 225 of their chest 4 or five times.I always want to knock somebody out especially when I'm covered in sweat ready to pass out after a set of squats and I know theres some douche bag staring at me thinking"who the hell does he think he is." just because Im actually working hard.Take a look around next time at your gym.95% of the people will be smiling or have an extremely relaxed look on thier faces.
