HGH, IgF and Metformin

Well, I've also asked chatGPT this question in the past and it confirmed this as well. I'll ask it to provide sources this time as I know ChatGPT isnt exactly the gold standard.

Metformin has been shown to lower IGF-1 levels through several mechanisms. By activating the AMPK pathway, Metformin reduces insulin and glucose levels, which can downregulate the IGF-1/IGF-1R signaling pathway. This reduction in IGF-1 activity is associated with Metformin's ability to inhibit the mTOR pathway, which influences cell growth, proliferation, and aging processes. These effects may contribute to Metformin's potential anti-aging and anti-cancer properties by lowering IGF-1's role in promoting cell proliferation and survival.

Metformin's impact on IGF-1 appears to be more pronounced in hyperinsulinemic individuals or those with metabolic disorders, where insulin levels are elevated. In such cases, lowering insulin reduces hepatic IGF-1 production since IGF-1 synthesis is insulin-dependent. This reduction may be beneficial for longevity and conditions involving excessive IGF-1 signaling.

While these findings are supported by clinical and preclinical research, specific impacts vary depending on individual physiology and context of use .

Not really interested in what chat gpt says. I looked through the link you that posted and there is nothing in there specifically saying Met lowers IGF. The only things it says about IGF are vague and not definitive at all.

Here's a link to a paper I found with a 20 second Google search and it's one of the first things that pops up. It specifically talks about Met and IGF. There are others as well.

From what I've seen Vigorous Steve seems like an idiot. Not sure if he makes shit up to be controversial and get views or if he actually believes everything he claims. Pretty sad that he is supposed to be an "expert" and his job is to share facts but he can easily be disproven by random people like me by just doing a basic search and reading publicly available research. He's a charlatan.
