High Hematocrit - The life of a RBC

Hello Gentlemen!
I come to you as I have stumbled upon something which I cannot understand.

A brief background of my situation.

I have been on Nebido for about 8 months in which I may or may not have taken a short blast of some illegal AAS which shot my RBC count to the 55% hct range. Let's say call last day of my presumed blast is day 1 of Month 1. Nebido dose/frequency is 1g/12 weeks, I continue Nebido only. I discontinue the nebido around Month 16 and get no TRT whatsoever. Now I am sitting almost 24 months since last presumed blast and I still have high HCT in the 53% range.

I speak to my Endo and he says it is because of the Nebido. Endo not knowing about my blast however the blast should not be relevant anymore.

I do not understand why my HCT is still high considering I haven't gotten a single Nebido shot in about 8 month and while on the Nebido my T levels should be normal and yielding a regular HCT count.

RBC live for about 120 days and any RBCs that were generated from my Nebido or my blast 2 years ago should be long gone.

Does anybody have any thoughts or input into this? Is there some mechanism that I do not know about? That testosterone or other AAS can somehow upregulate RBC production for a longer period of time or something to that effect? My endo is clueless as is the hematologist.

Thank you

Many things can raise RBC. Have you looked at all the other factors?

Genetics and elevation of residence can also play a role on this. People who live in high altitude have been observed to function normally even with higher than normal rbcs all their lives.

Doc needs to refer you to a specialist. I don't know the dam name but one that specializes in blood conditions.
Could be as simple as having sleep apnea. The body will produce more blood cells in order to compensate for the lack of much needed circulating o2 levels.

Hematologist. My RBC and HCT are always high, even on TRT doses. Just have to donate frequently. That’s what the hematologist told me as well.

Ya, even before using aas my rbc was max
They probably won't let him donate with it so high.

I had a sleep study done before and I haven't been using the machine, in fact I don't have it. I think this could be the reason! Thank you!

Was just gonna make a thread about this. I'm on 500iu HCG and 100mg test wk then 3units of hgh Ed. The first tier was when I was on 300mg test in September. I just pulled bloods and I noticed my levels are steadily rising.
5.75 > 6.40 RBC
17.7 > 18.6 hemoglobin
52.9 > 56.4 hematocrit
My natty wasn't much different I was also told by a PA to donate. I've been told that doesn't always work either.

I currently live in Sweden, my hct has been 55%+ and they don't wanna drain any blood because it costs too much/seems sketch xD

It always works, for how long is the question. I dumped on a Friday, prior to my endocrinologist appt, which was the following Wednesday. I dump close to my appt so he doesn’t freak out about my high HCT and tell me to get off TRT. Went in for labs Wednesday and it was 53, so, it didn’t last long.

So you have injected nothing, not even testosterone, for eight months? You just suffered with low testosterone for eight months?

Can you donate blood in Sweden, like Red Cross?

Yes, I haven't injected anything for eight months! Yeah, suffering :D And all these docs say "You won't die from having low t." I respond with, "You won't die from not eating a week neither, go try that."

I can donate blood in Sweden but since my hct is high I would be disqualified.

How are you testing HCT? Some labs are terrible and always show elevated figures. Others are fine. This is in the UK, but I'm sure it's similar elsewhere.

I got a fingerprick meter, which is very accurate and has a quite thorough study backing up accuracy. It's crazy seeing fluctuations over the day. Can wake up at 56+ and be <50 by lunch after hydrating and eating. I've used this meter before my last 3 blood draws, and it's got the exact same results, so I trust it enough to use it to "keep an eye" on levels.

Definitely worth testing at different times of the day to see if you are getting an accurate representation of your levels. I'm 49-52 without exogenous test so have been keeping a close eye on levels, and the only thing that has put me to 55+ consistently is a recent small cycle of Test, NPP, Primo, and a bit of anavar thrown in. I drained some blood and immediately went back to around 50 so guess I have a few weeks at least until it increases again at which point I will coming towards the end of my cycle.

On TRT levels and my HCT is mostly ok, and always under 55 on average.

Hi buddy - can i ask what at home tester have you got? I was looking at some online myself the other day, but they all had mixed reviews on accuracy, so i didn't get one. Also, why do you think lab results in the uk can be off for hct? I'm also in the uk, and i use medichecks for my bloodwork. My last blood draw had hct at 0.511 (51.1%) and hgb at 171 g/L. Not that high (at the moment), but if there's an at home tester and i knew the results would be accurate, i'd be interested in getting one.
