Hormonal rollercoaster

So I have been posting on another website but would like some other opinions.

I have been struggling with poor sexual performance and low libido for some time. I am 22 years old and in relatively good health besides borderline high blood pressure.

I had one total testosterone test at 590 ng/dl. I took tribulus for a few months after this, stopped for 2 weeks, and then had another retest at 345 ng/dl with an e2 of 35. Retrospectively, I have determined that the tribulus was screwing with my emotions and making me depressed and anxious. After this blood test, it was suggested that I take a small amount of arimidex to cut down the e2. I took 1 mg/week spread out evenly for about a month. My e2 tanked and it sucked really bad. I had extreme anxiety/depression and my joints were cracking really bad. I have been off the arimidex for about 1.5 month but my joints are still clicking and I am having some emotional issues (anxiety/depression) that never existed before. Sure the sexual dysfunction got me down before, but now I really don't feel right sometimes. I tend to notice a connection between the clicking and when I feel like crap.

I know this is a complicated situation, but I'm wondering if it's possible that my encounter with the arimidex permanently altered my hormone profile. Based on the nature of the drug, one would think that once it's out of the system, normal estrogen production would return. I'm also wondering if the tribulus can have any long term effects. Frankly, I'm quite worried and hoping that things will return to normal with time. It's mainly the emotional issues that are concerning me right now.

Thanks in advance for your comments.

Did you experience any improvement at all when you were on the A-Dex?

My experience with A-Dex, and I was taking the same amount and I had roughly the same e2 level that you did, was that it worked great for a few weeks and then drove my E2 too low. I stopped it after taking it for 5 weeks 1.5 weeks ago and am hoping things will pop back up again. Assuming my e2 recovers, I plan to give it a shot at 1/4 the dose I was taking.

I did experience anxiety with A-dex, and a general inability to relax that disrupted my sleep.

From what I have read A-dex doesn't cause a perminent disruption with your hormones. Although 1.5 months is quite awhile for things not to return to normal. The only way to know for sure is to get your E2 tested again.

Best of luck.

I felt a little better for about a week but then things got ugly and I was just too messed up emotionally to understand what was going on until a few weeks later. I had the sleeping problems just like you and the anxiety was overwhelming. Did your joints crack like mine did (and still are by the way)? I was very physically active during that time and maybe I did some damage during those few weeks. It's not painful now it just sounds like my knuckles are cracking all the time except it's my wrists, knees, and ankles. I'm just so worried that I have permanently screwed things up. I guess there is a reason that doctors are conservative with this kind of stuff. I know that the human body is pretty resilient and can bounce back, but in the mean time I am getting in with an endocrinologist as soon as possible and explaining my situation. Unfortunately, I did the arimidex as a research chemical, not under the supervision of the doctor so I know I'm going to get some heat.

As I mentioned, I'd be surprised if you did permanent damage. But I'd be curious as to what the endo says.

I am getting a lab work up next week, and E2 and total T is included. I did take a-dex under the supervision of a doctor who knows about this stuff. I will post my results.

What kind of sleep problems did you have? Are you still having problems?

My sleep problems were insomnia and night sweating. Those have dissipated since stopping the arimidex.

I've been doing more research, and the aromitase enzyme is prevalent in many different types of tissue. So what are the true effects of arimidex, especially long term? Nobody knows. But I do know that by tanking my estrogen for a few weeks, I became seriously depressed and experienced some of the craziest anxiety and emotional swings you could possibly imagine, along with having joints that sound like those of a 90 year old man. It was very frightening. I'm definitely doing better right now, so maybe it will just take some time for my mood to calm down. But every time I feel my knees and wrists pop I can't help but think something is still off, as I know this is a common occurence in those who take armidex and get their estrogen too low.

This is the last time I will ever screw with my hormones if I can help it. Cialis is a much easier concept to deal with. I'll keep you posted on future lab work.

Also, sorry I didn't answer your question, I didn't experience any of the joint problems you did, and I would characterize my anxiety problems as annoying but not terrible. It sounds like your symptoms were more severe.

I might question that statement. The amount of AI he prescribed is usually reserved for someone already on TRT at high doses. I seriously doubt you damaged your endo system.
Please do post your results.

Self experiemntation gets people in trouble because they either read it from some idiot on the boards or some bodybuilder at the gym told you. Right now you need to get your self balanced back at by a good HRT dr. We are very familar with these cases and have had a great success in rebalancing the body so that it can produce on its own. If you are in the north eastern usa pm me for information on our clinic. If you are in midwest go see dr. john
and west coast go see dr mariano. These are the top 3 dogs in the business. Shippen is getting ready to retire and is not taking alot of patients these days. Yes your problems is complicated, but with a good Dr they should be able to bring your body back into balance over time. AI can take up to 3 months for body to return back to normal. Its not the blood that is the issue but the response and damage it caused at the tissue.

You'd be wrong to question that statement. Just trust me on it, I am not doing this stuff on my own or under the supervision of a a doc that doesn't know his stuff. I don't want to post his name, but you'd recognize it.

Anyway, tomorrow I get my E2 and total T tested, and I will definitely share.

Sorry Joe I tried to edit that post but it seems like once its read you can't edit. I confused you with the other member who posted under you..

Hardasnails: So you're saying that it could take up to three months to get over a month of low-dose adex use? I'm pretty sure that all of the adex was out of my system around 8/18. So within the next few months I could see improvement? I guess it's all speculation. I have an appointment with an endocrinologist scheduled 10/28. I'm not quite sure what to tell him or what tests we should be looking at. He's probably going to think that I am bad news considering in all relativity I was fine before this fiasco.

I was on adex M,W,F and I was fine then I made alteration in my other hormones and this caused my levels of e2 to dropped. After stopping adex it has been about 3 months and it still has not rebounded back to normal.

So what is your plan to bring it back up? What could a doctor do to raise e2 levels? Some days I feel ok and some i feel terrible. It's like my body is trying to come back but it just can't do it.

I experienced similar symptoms while using t-cyp, adex,, HCG, oral DHEA and td pregnenolone. I also experienced similar sx while using TD androgel. Everyone's metabolism and situation is slightly different. The compounded TD T was my solution (no adex). One contributing factor to my situation was low SHBG.

What did you do about the low SHBG? Or what caused it?

.

Were you taking the DHEA and Pregnenolone while doing HCG? My understanding is that HCG will allow you to produce these naturally. Perhaps you were over medicating?

Still nobody has any ideas how to raise estradiol? The only idea I have is to drink a bunch of grapefruit juice, but that's about it. I'm about to go nuts. 4 weeks until I have any type of help from a doctor.

Soy-based foods will raise raise your E2, from what I read.

You might want to try some soy milk and/or soy beans.

Just don't eat too much!
