how is it that guys in jail get big as hell

Guys i know people in jail do nothing but lift wieghts but how the hell can try grow as big as they do without the proper food and supplement. My friend was in jail for 18 months, he was really overwieght 5"11 295lbs. In 18 month he came home a monster, in just 18 months he lost over 100lbs. I mean he was ripped the hell up, I asked him what the hell happened and he told me " 10 sets of 10 is what happened" I was like "damn talk about overtraining". I asked him to explain and what he said was " lets take chest I do 10 sets of 10 on incline flat and decline twice per week per body part. I didnt believe him so last week i hit the gym with him and i couldnt believe what i was seeing he was hitting 275lbs on incline, decline and flat. Now to top it off he said that he wasnt any where near the other guys in the joint. Some one please help me understand how the hell can some one grow off overtraining like that please.
 
I think the bigger issue is why are these F$# criminals allowed to workout? Oh wait, I got it- those GD liberal politicians.

Well hes not really a criminal, he walked in on his mothers boyfriend beating her so he beat him. He broke him up pretty bad I asked him why the hell he did stop beat him and all he could say was " that dude hurt my mother so i hurt him

3 meals a day, lots of rest/recovery, barter for more food, and survival. Its just a guess, but I dont htink you want to be a small guy in prison. You have to protect your ass, literally.

But 10 sets of 10 isnt that overtraining ?
 
I would think that doing it twice a week would definitely be overtraining. But its hard to say, as these guys really have nothing else to do during the day. So there only real physical activity might be lifting, which ends up placing less stress on CNS.

I cant imagine doing 10x10 for flat, incline and decline. Not only is the flat and decline redundant, but that is a shitload of volume. Then again, you said the guy lost 100 pounds. 10x10 is a HUGE calorie expense. Even with the food they serve in prison, the guy lost an average of 5.5 pounds per month. Did the guy train legs or did he do the Freshman Frat workout?

his legs are lil as hell but they are strong and i mean strong he makes me want to try 10*10
 
Ive done 10x10 before (its been a few years now). I did get stronger with it, but didnt really add much, if any, weight. Poliquin, who is the one that popularized it most recently, claimed that people would add 6-10 pounds in about 8 weeks. I didnt, butthen again, I dont know many (any?) people that have even remotely come close to hitting his so-called "normal results" for programs.

Personally, I doubt that I would ever use 10x10 again. The soreness is almost unbearable, the results werent there, and the squat/leg curl workouts were honestly the most brutal things Ive ever encountered! IMO, its probably too much work to do while dieting, though it would help definitely eliminate the need for cardio as calorie expenditure is huge.

Poliquin also used 1 sets of 4-6 reps, which I would be more likely to use as its closer to a powerlifting program.

When i did my time,.all we did was bar dips and push ups and pull ups in the yard,.The main thing in getting big in there is rest and food and more food and rest.

Blue or red = crips or bloods (that's street gangs, mostly out of LA)

punked = pick on

oh and "nothing but a chicken wing" should be "ain't no thang but a chicken wang" popularized (at least recently, read early 90's) by Oukast...

Guys just lift hard and rest, but a lot of guys are huge before they go in. My cousin was like that, he looks just like one of those stereotypical motorcycle gang members, 6'3" 260 lbs I would guess (not the leanest guy, but who cares when you're in prison). He says guys lift A) because there is nothing else to do and B) cause small guys get picked on. Unless you are in a crew or gang like you guys are talking about, he says that if you talk smack to one of those guys they beat you in the showers! I thought that stuff was just in the movies.....
