How long does it take you to recover from max attempt deadlift pr?

I think that the disconnect is that you are thinking about strength in more reductive terms than I am in this context, perhaps thinking about it in terms of neural drive & central motor command, recruitment, voluntary activation. Of course, testosterone does augment these too [1], but in this context I refer to strength as a product also of increased muscle size, because increased fCSA (fibre cross-sectional area) is an important contributor to increased strength. For that, just take Bhasin's 1996 study [2] showing effects of testosterone enanthate + training on muscle size & strength).

These are direct muscle anabolic & rapid nongenomic neural effects rather than indirect ones that arise from enhanced recovery from intensive muscular work.

Thanks for those references. When I replied yesterday my brain was fried and it was late. Roughly, test increases muscle size, enhances neural drive and fiber reaction speed, as well as improves nutrients partitioning. I know there's more detail and nuance than that but I'm good with a more general understanding. Seems that all AAS does these things to different degrees.

I don’t think there’s many serious lifters maxing out so frequently that they need to know the answer to this question..
Talk for yourself tbh I actually don’t have issues recovering muscle wise from deads but I find that every time I do em heavy (which I always do, always do like 10 sets of singles or doubles with 85/95% of my rep max then max out then do a pyramid down again) which is at least once a week, I always have a bit of shakiness or idk how to explain it but it does put me into overdrive n I feel like stimmed out for a couple hours after the gym so I’d guess it’s not really the muscle recovery that’s an issue but like with what many elite lifters said it’s a CNS thing where you need to chill for a bit after as you’re using your whole body to lift the heaviest weight it can lift (usually you dl is the strongest lift, idk bout random people who have different results but that’s the general rule) so I’d say in that specific case with that specific lift the gear just helps your muscles recover but it doesn’t make that much of a difference with the other parts of recovery but I’m no expert this is just what I’ve noticed n what most people seem to agree on

Let me guess - a Sumo deadlifter that can probably bench about 315 lol
Whatcha got against sumo mane? If it’s good enough for the legend ed coan it should be good enough for you too :P jk aside tho ik how some people use it to cheat the ROM (especially them idiots with the DL bars tf is up with that?) but in some cases it is just due to better leverage, it ain’t my fault I’m built like a chimp n have short legs n long arms u mfka ahah

Pull conventional but I also have short legs and long arms. Definitely awesome for deadlifts lol

Fk yeah monkey team inna house! I do both (even love to do real heavy conventional rack pulls) n then do deficit deadlifts cos the baws Konstantin Konstantinovs (R.I.P.) always said they helped out a lot n the guy was pulling half a ton with no belt so he knew tf was up but yeah usually I train both stances the same day just when I get heavier or when I would be competing I’d do a hybrid sumo ed coan style cos that’s what I pull my best at (got long torso but strong ass legs so gotta pretty much do the coan vrsn if I wanna maximise my leverages).
But yeah bro you’re right in doing conventional idk if you pull more that way as it’s dependent on you as a person but imo anyone that doesn’t do at least conventional n straight legged/Romanians is losing out on potential gains, that’s why I do all 3 start with conventional warm up with 2-3 plates that way then going from 4 upwards I do sumo n then on the last couple sets I drop the weight to like 2 or 3 n do a couple of really low Romanians/SLDLs (never understood the difference but I never really looked it up either I just put weight on the bar n pretend I’m stretching my hammies but with a fkload of weight ahah)

Btw sorry for the rant but I fkin love deadlifts n wish I could do em heavy af every fkin day but I guess it’s not that type of lift purtroppo

Deadlift is the shittiest to recover from, on or off gear.

Most competitive powerlifters only max the deadlift once every 3 to 4 weeks, it's worse on gear IMO because you have that extra in you to grind out.

After a meet, I'm deloading a whole week just about without a thought for maybe 6 to 8 weeks before I max a pull, This is if I completed the whole meet without bombing out before deadlifts.
