I am trying to cut my sugar intake In half to see what kind effects it has on physique and energy levels. I am currently consuming 30-50g ed.
I would like to get that number down to 20-25g.

Well today I consumed all the grams of sugar.

When I tried going keto (I was about 20g carbs a day) my energy went way up. When I had a cheat day and ate a few quiktrip donuts or something, my workout after was insane. Crazy vascularity and awesome strength. I was pretty lean and all natural, so I can only imagine what kind of affects you would get on cycle.

I would try it again, but......

I have been doing keto for a year now. So very low sugar 1-10g a day. Energy through the roof. Leaned out and lost 57lbs. Reversed type 2 diabetes as well. Now I'm just trying to get my trt dialed in to gain back my size and strength.

Too many, because I drink six glasses of milk a day. Outside of milk, I probably also get 30 grams a day from fruit. So the total is around 100 grams. Those are my only sources of sugar.

Based on what I've read, the less sugar, the better. The only sugar we ideally would get is from vegetables, which are very low calorie, so 25g per day max is all we need.

I eat quite a bit because I eat at least one piece of whole fruit a day, and sometimes toss some in blender with protein. I also think that it is better to eat sugar(not corn syrup) that fake sweetners, not sure why but they scare me. On cycle the sugars dont seem to have any bad effects on fat loss, but off I usually have to cut back on carbs in general.

It's not the sugar that's "bad" for u but what many fail to combine it with to delay absorption, since
simple carbs such as sugar (or any other carb) will be turned into FAT once metabolic needs are met and glycogen stores replenished.

Dr JIM, what do you combine with sugar to delay absorption? Is it just (healthy) fats? Fiber?

This keto diet intrigues me. I’m rather close to it from the types of foods I prefer, except for the milk, I suppose. I’m not even a big snacked, either. I imagine a lactose free milk would do the trick, but I can’t stand the taste of it. It actually tastes somehow sweeter to me than regular milk.
