How many times per week to train a body part?

Frreeeeddddyyy, Ggggaaaavvvviiiin, this post is calling your names.

im not going to criticise you for your choice of training methodology, after all everyone is trying to achieve results and if you are getting them, good for you no matter how you train.

however, your assertion that "research" favors less frequent training is incorrect. there have been numerous studies on frequency of training over the last 20-30 years. the vast majority show one of two things, that it either does not matter, or that greater frequency gives greater results!

one of the reasons for different opinions on this issue is that some who vary their training frequency dont hold overall volume constant. for instance, if you are doing 9 sets of squatting once per week, its likely ;that 3 setss done 3 times per week will work better, but 9 sets done 2 or 3 times per week will be too much. doing the same workout more frequently will add too much volume... greater frequency with the same or nearly the same volume is the key.

On gear its pretty hard to over train your body.I have 2 friends who are pro bodybuilders and they always say when your on gear train harder and more often than you ever have in your life.To achieve the full benifit of the juice.I use a split routine morning and evening.6 days on 1 off. That works for me

question for graybass

How do I determine how to totally kill a muscle group if I'm doing one body part per day? How many different lifts for how many total sets? What are some tips for increasing intensity? Thanks.

G-head I'm with you Bro.
My body responds best to one or two body parts per day.
I went from 165lbs to present weight of 240 and below 10% BF.(took a few yrs.)
I've been a personal trainer for over 15 yrs, and I've created many a state and national champion in Bodybuilding, Fitness, and Figure. All using the one major body part a day routine.

This gives plenty of time for growth and recovery!!!!
Also its not the total sets(although I do alot) It's the intensity!
