How much cardio a week do you all do?

The AHA standard is 150 min/week. Anaerobic exercise is also included in this standard (can’t remember exact number). Seeing that AAS use essentially negates any cardioprotectivity of lifting weights, how much cardio do you do a week?

To be honest, I have no clue where this standard came from. There is zero chance 80% of the US population even comes close to 150 min aerobic exercise/week

I don't do it on purpose anymore, I rather make sure I walk more and be active during the day. In the summer I love swimming in lake in the winter I go to the indoor swimming pool. I do some calisthenics on my way when I walk, if it happens I find some bars along my way. I used to be way more active, but I can get away with the current regime just fine.

30-40 minutes most days, 4-5 days a week, so anywhere from 120-240 minutes a week.

The fact that 80% of the population does not do it should not be surprising, nor should that be your guide for what you do. Go to Walmart and look around. Want to be like them?

Im not surprised by 80%. Actually from what I see its probably more.......and even 10% of the 20% that DO cardio only do it so they can eat like shit

I’m cutting right now so my cardio is fairly high. I do 30mins indoor bike every morning after I wake up and then late in the day I run for 35 mins. This is daily right now but will start to not do cardio on rest days soon.

So you are all working out, 5-7 times a week, and doing cardio on top of that, 5-7 times a week…?

2hrs 3x week. This is not ideal at all in my opinion but with my work schedule it's how I do it. Ideally I would probably do 1hr 5 to 6 days a week. Also my diet could be better.

For those that track heart rate, what do you aim for?

Huge difference in effect between LISS and HIIT in terms of the energy mechanisms used. I’d go far as to say, unless your workouts consist solely of 1-3 rep sets, LISS is probably all you really need cause glycolytic system is well used in hypertrophy gym work.

140s-low 150s. Or at least aiming to bring down my stairmaster exercise from 160 to 140s

Same here. I try to stay over 140 for the last 10-15 minutes. That becomes tougher to do as you get in better shape, so sometimes I stay around 130-140 toward the end and keep progressing the intensity up slowly to try to get it over 140 again toward the end at some point a few workouts down the road.

I get up really early in the morning and go. I watch movies on my phone so that I forget what I am doing.

When I get home, it is dark, my family is still asleep. I get a shower and get ready for work. My wife gets the kids up, my eggs and oats are waiting for me on the table to have breakfast with the kids, and life is good.

I hate cardio, but I am always in a good mood after cardio - like sitting at breakfast happy with my kids and ready to tackle the day. Even my wife has commented on my mood. I have no idea why. Like I said, I really don't like doing it. I do it for health, mainly, and fat burning, secondarily.

Yup. I hit the gym to lift at 5:30am, typically done by 7:00 (I stuff a quick breakfast down around 4:45a with a scoop of preworkout). Usually do programs that are 5-6x per week (PPL, body part, etc). Then cardio in the evenings after dinner in the form of stationary bike, treadmill, hill climb, hiking, etc. I would do lifting in the evening and cardio in the mornings but I love to get hopped up on caffeine before lifting and that would mess up my sleep. Plus, if I train super hard in the evening I tend to have trouble getting to sleep anyway.

120 minutes a day. But I'm an easy gainer. Fat loves me. one iu gh 30 minutes prior to 60 minutes treadmill, repeat in 3 hours. I get up early.

Edit. hit the gym around 2p.m for lifting.
