How much protien?

High, I'm new to the board, and would like to start off by saying that you have guys have really posted alot of good information in these threads, and thanks for all the time and effort. It really gives us noobs an edge when starting out, and belive me we appreciate it.

First a little about me:
I'm 6'2, 205 pounds, I've been lifting for about 6 months now. My gains have been modest at best. My weight seems to fluctuate a few pounds up and down, as my BF is slowly decreasing. (I was 220 when I started)

I lift for about an hour most days, occasionally throwing in a day just for cardio. My goal is to gain about 25 to 30 pounds of lean weight, and drop my BF to an acceptable level.

I am not genetically "gifted" but I have alot of self discipline and drive to achieve.

I have alot of questions, but being new here I dont know if they are appropriate to openly ask, so I guess I'll start with a few basics.

How much protien should I be consuming per day?

What OTC supplements should I definitely be taking? I really dont want to waste my money on shit that doesnt work. I need my money more than GNC does.

Lastly, how do I know if I am overtraining? Undertraining?

I really want to thank you people again for all this info. Ive been readin as much as my time will allow for the last few days, and it really is alot of info to take in.

L8R !

I always said if you get the right kind you don't need as much but i always hear 1.5g per lb of lean mass when off cycle and 2g when on

That would be a little over 300 grams for my weight. Give or take.

In your experiences, whats the best lean protien?
I've heard egg whites, but I'm so god#$%^ %^*$# sick of em.
If I never see another friggin egg it'll be too soon. LOL

why would it be 300g/day? thats based off 200lbs... you should calculate your protien on lean mass... 2g/(total weight - fat weight)... another way you can do it is go for 2g/kg... im about 78kilos, making my protien 160g/day give or take... much more doable

and, i usually go with my whey protien (concentrate, isolate, either way... I havent had much difference betweent he two, other than isolate costs more), lots of turkey chicken and fish, red meat's... meh... theyre not bad, but a leaner meat would be better, and oh, Peanut butter... mmm 8g/serving of protien and alot of unsaturated fat

remmeber when trying to figure out how much protien to use u need to go by your LEAN body mass.... fat needs no protien
