I know go ahead and flam me! I dont care but before you do that, I have a problem with boiling eggs, when I got to peal them the rip all over the place and I end up trashing them, how long to boil them! I waste so many fucking eggs because the chell sticks to them.

Yeah, I hate that when you go to peel them, and you end up with only have the white, because the rest of it is stuck to the shell.

I usually boil them for about 12 minutes, then run them under cold water for a minute or so to let them completely cool off. Sometimes this will keep the shell from sticking.

Wow, 20 minutes? You're cooking them too long. You have to also consider losing some of the protein from overcooking them. I'm not sure about that, but wouldn't risk it. Try 12 minutes on high heat, then drain the water, and run them under cold water. The 12 minutes doesn't include getting the water up to a boil, just after it's started boiling.

I boil the eggs for 10-12 minutes, and as soon as they are done I dump the water and put them in ice water. Give that around 3-4 mintues, than when you want to peel them roll them on a flat surface w/ some force, this will peel the egg without a problem. After you peel them, run them under cold water and this will take off any loose shell that might have stuck.
Hope this helps
Thank you

i ALWAYS dump the boiling water and replace with cold water several times and then start peeling, they come right off! i always boil from 17-20 minutes.

I don't think you can kill protein by overcooking

i've seen people reference studies that say you can.

i boil them for 12mins and then run under cold water immediately, comes off like a charm.

Maybe if you look in a cookbook you will find out the optimum time to boil an egg? Just a thought, I am not trying to be "a complete and utter asshole". I think that even the most incompetent cookbook author can tell you this. ;)

ok bros...here is the secret for a perfect boiled egg every single time

1. put eggs in the pot with cold water
2. set heat on high
3. bring to a boil , let boil 1 minute
4. cover pot, cut heat off
5. leave covered pot on burner for 10 minutes

these eggs will be perfect every time

eggs are cheap so practice until you figure it out. I just boil for about 10 minutes and leave them in the water for a good 30 minutes or if I am in a hurry run them under cold water and have never had a problem with the shell. Doesnt your wife or neighbor know how?

I hate when the little f***ers crack in the boiling water and egg white squirts out. I want to know how to keep that from happening!
