How to train post competition??

Hey everyone, just finished my first competition over the weekend and was wondering what the best way to train is?? My strength is gone down a lot, but the pumps I'm getting are unreal (prob becasue there's some sugar in my body again!)!! I was thinkin along the line of doing German Volume Training and keeping the calories pretty high but clean. Just after coming off now as well so I have 4 weeks to try and get all my strength back before I start my next cycle.

Any suggestions on this?

Oh yeah, I came 4th (out of 8), so no trophy :( but got invited back to the British Finals in November (NABBA) so it's not all bad! Need to put on as much mass as possible before November too so I'll be posting up my next cycle for some criticism/advice too!

I've had a crazy few days I must be honest but am starting to clean it up now. I had a lot of cravings after the comp which have been satisfied (for now!)

i'll move this to the training section..bob smith and animal mass are our training gurus....hit them up...

I've never competed, so I really shouldn't comment, but I would imagine that taking some time off would be a good idea. I've been lifting consistantly for almost 10 years now, and I take a month or two off every year. I still try to eat respectable, but I don't worry about keeping a gym routine. I might workout 4-5 times per week, or I might not go at all. The time off helps me get my desire back where it needs to be to go hard the rest of the year.

Good luck.

The finals are in November so I can't afford to take time off!! Took like 4 days off, that was about it. Strength has suffered enough already though!

I've competed twice and after both shows I took a week off and then went back to lifting as I would at any other time I was trying to gain muscles: big, heavy, multi-joint movements for low reps.

Did your strength go down much after the week off?? Haven't gone for any 1RM yet, have 3 weeks left of GVT then will go back to Heavy training again (just finishing up in college and don't have that much ntime to spend in the gym :()

Nah, my strength was fine. Even if you lose 10lbs of strength on any given lift, who gives a fuck? It'll be back in 2 days.

If you are a BB, then you shouldn't(or, don't need to, anyway) ever do 1RM's. What's the point besides ego inflation? I haven't done a 1RM since 1997 or 1998.

No reason for doing them apart from curiosity I guess!

Be careful. You're far more likely to hurt yourself pulling a 1RM than lifting lighter than that. Which is why I say there's no need to bother. You increase your "danger", but you get no practical benefit out of it. It is fun, though, I guess. ;)
