HST ?/ Adductor strain?

Two questions

1) On my second work set of squats today(at 5RM) I got a little twinge in my R adductor on the first rep, did 2 more reps and racked it. I feel it a little now, and have it iced. How long should I ice, and then what. Things have been going so well, this is a little demoralizing. 2 days till next WO.

2) Just finished two weeks of fives up to my 5RM. I train alone so I can't do negs. In my mind the choices are to continue at 5RM or do drop sets. Opinions? If I do drops, how should I arrange them.

Without a training partner, I would continue on with the 5s. Either keep pushing your 5RM weight for more reps or add a few pounds each workout as long as you are getting the 5 reps.

What stance were you using to squat?

I would continue the 5's only in the upper body. I would not chance any more further injury in the legs, because during the weeks of 5's, injury rate is highly elevated, and if you feel some sort of strain, I would back off and start deconditioning for the 5's on the legs, or just do higher reps, just to get the blood flowing in them. But continue on in the upper body.

Thanks guys.

BS - Heels shoulder width, feet slightly less than 45 degress between them.

Jug - that is a consideration, depending on how the leg feels, this is about 10 hours later and things feel pretty good. I hate to lose momentum here and the squats felt comfortable on the first set. However, I have FINALLY gotten smart enough to realize that it is better to err on the conservative side rather than really screw things up.

continue with the 5's. you can do 3 sets rather than two as another choice of progressively doing more work. as for the leg you might want to rest it another w/o. 20 minutes a pop on the ice a few times/day
