Hey, so how's the HST thing going? What have you noticed?
I'm about to start my first HST cycle today, looking for a reason to get all excited about it (grin). But seriously, can you compare your results to other styles of training?
How did your first cycle go? Size and strength gains?

I'm trying to figure out WHY they say that, my incline sucks, and I don't want my flat bench to get weak... plus our only incline bench is quite an incline, and HST site says 'slight' incline.

I think what Bryan means by a slight incline is about 15 degrees, so just barely above a regular flat bench. What I am doing for my HST cycle is alternating flat and incline every other day.

Wed: Incline
Fri: flat
Mon: Incline

dude must live in antartica. my wrists are about 6 3/4" doesnt mean they are weak. u go around measuring guys wrists or what? lol. On another note, from reading on hst's site. if there is much overlap in poundages it is advised to do the same weight two times in a row rather than having a lot of overlap. My cousin really has to stay in that sort of rep range. he cant go heavy. He just finished his cycle but is doing one more week due to when his break is. He lost a lot of weight and loved the program. he did 15,12, 8 for his rep ranges
Ive run about 4-6 cycles with very good results and just started another one today. I first tried HST about 3 years ago.

Well since you have a wrist fetish, i will tell you that fat guys have bigger wrists usually. Big boned africans have the biggest. SOme fijian mama's have 12" wrists. Not sure if you can handle that.
As for HST results, i have always gotten stronger, lost body fat yet maintained or gained weight depending on my goals.

Okay, so... stronger, good results, and you keep doing it because results are superior to previous things you've tried, the same, or because you like the extra days off?
Did my first 15 rep cycle today, and dang man, I was surprised how hard it was. I don't understand, maybe because I've never worked out light before.
For instance, curls, my 15 rep max was 105, so today I started out with 80lbs, and I'm just shocked at how hard it was. I'm used to 6 reps at 145, so I thought 80lbs, that's nothing, I'll pump these out no problem.
I guess I'm all fast twitch trained or something... dunno, but those 15 rep sets for the small muscles was hard and they burned. Bench on the other hand, was very easy. Compound movement though...
Might be TUT though, I noticed I was going pretty slowly, and when I do heavy reps I go fast.
Anything more than a handful is a waste.

I may have to start working out at home, doing this in a gym is a pain if you want to get done fast. I figured I'd just jump from exercise to exercise without rest, but a lot of people isn't conducive to hogging all the equipment for circuit training.
Anyway, I'm surprised you've done that many and are still going. I'm making a big stretch to try this out, the routines seem SO whimpy compared to what I'm used to (overtraining no doubt).
But you are giving me courage; if someone as dedicated as you are is on a 6th cycle, must be something right about it.
Have you made any adjustments you like, or that work better for you?

i thought that hst was whimpy... till i tried it. the 15's humbled me and put 1/4" on my arms in 2 weeks. cool. 
during this cycle i lost 2% bf and gained 3 lbs. at 210lbs that means i put on abuot 7lbs of muscle in 8 weeks. not too bad for a whimpy routine, eh?...

I'm on my 2nd round. last wk of 10's and I'm happy with it. For a long time i trained one bp per wk to failure with good secess. but for the last few yrs due to injuries I can't train like that anymore. HST has givin me another option and I've made some good progress. My 1st try I went from 193 to 200lbs and lost BF. now I'm in a cutting cycle and losing about 2lbs per wk but still feeling strong and pumped. My lft shoulder which has a tear in the rotator is also starting to feel a little better on this program due to the lighter weights and higher reps.............11
Chippy and 11, thanks for the updates. Its always encouraging when people who have been training for as long as you guys have report positive results. Most people, from what Ive witnessed, are very surprised at how much they really do gain in a short period of time. They go into it, as NeoDave said, thinking it is wimpy and cant possibly work well. I always like hearing them humbled by the results.

NEO,the 15's can kick your ass. As for why I like HST: I like it for its results and the 3x/week fits my schedule. It has also been friendly for long term results due to decreased injuries. I have done several cycles.I have tweeked some things around. Keep with how it is written for your 1st and probably second cycles.
Neo, I prefer HST for similar reasons as Thick. Superior results, opens up my schedule a little more, and I stay healthy.
Well, you guys are very encouraging. It's SO bizzare to be handling such light weight, and moving from exercise to exercise...
First day took an hour, trying to circuit train, but I think I'll split it into two days, just because for me the gym being downstairs, and being used to going every day. Somehow if I'm not in the gym every day, it's easier to not look forward to it. I ALWAYS look forward to it, but not after yesterday (grin) and a week off I took first.
Staying healthy is huge guys, and my reason for doing this. Thanks for the feedback... I'm encouraged.

I wouldnt really advise splitting it for your first cycle, but if you decide to anyway, use an upper body/lower body split.
Its not a race to get through the workout, normal rest times are about 2 mins per set. I finished my workout yesterday right about an hour.

Ok i am still wanting to gain mass(weight). I just started up boxing with my friend for a cardio workout and to be able to swing some hard punches, hehe. But would i still be able to gain weight from this workout or would it benefit me more if i leave out the boxing until i finish HST. keep in mind i just started boxing this week and i am wanting to gain as much weight as possible. Then ill go back to boxing. What do you think i should do. Because i am really excited about this different kind of training, and i want to make the best of it.
