hey bros,

I've recently been diagnosed with mononucleosis, about 10 days ago. I have all usual side effects, swollen glands, severe headaches, neck/back aches, shortness of breath, exhaustion, constantly tired, lack of appetite etc..
Over the past 12 days I worked on twice (extremely light) and have had to force food down resulting in considerable loss of muscle.. Was 6Ft1, 228lbs, 8-9% BF (too scared too check stats now) BTW I am 25yrs old. I am reaching out to you all to seek advise or hear from anyone whose been through this before and make recommendations to limit muscle loss.

I was in the middle of a 400mg/wk EQ and about 450 winny... not sure to continue this, to stop all together, or switch to something else... I think I can do about 4-6 sets per body part per week at around 60% of my 1 rep max and no cardio.

any help or advice would be appreciated... my doctor wasnt of much help on this topic.

Sup bro

That really hurts. I got mono last year and I wouldnt wish it on my worst enemy. But the great thing is that I beat it in 7 days so it wasnt that bad time wise.

1. You have to understand that you WILL lose muscle and FAT while dealing with mono.

2. I suggest that you stay on your cycle for another week. If you can inject the winny do so.

3. Rest your body. I slept tons! You may not need to even work out.. just give your body a good rest and let it settle.

4. Suppliments - drink tons of water! Protein shakes can go down easy as well. Take 3000mg vitamin C a day or more. Try to take you Omega fatty acids and eat plenty of fruit. watermelon really flushes out the system as well.. Pinaple is good too.

5. Dont over exert yourself.. just cause your on a cycle doesnt mean you HAVE to workout. Being on cycle may help you prevent further muscle loss. If you really are not feeling up for the gym dont push yourself. Listen to your body and prioritize it over steroids.

Peace

dom.

Personally I would dump the winny right away. Mono can be liver taxing. Docs recommend you don't even drink for a while after it's okay.

I'd take milk thistle and make sure to get your EFA's. Expect to feel terrible and let it run it's course. You'll be back, just get healthy and good luck.
I had it and it can take some time to 'get back into it'. Just start off slow when you're better. Do reduced volume workouts, you almost have to start off training just to have fun and not have a hardcore or competitive attitude until you really feel better. It took me a few months before I felt I was really able to get after it again.

My ex-wife had mono. The good news is that it's a self-limiting disease, meaning that it clears up by itself.

The only thing you can really do to speed a recovery is to REST. Let me repeat that in case I wasn't clear. REST REST REST.

Don't lift. Don't do cardio. Don't play sports. Don't do housework. Make your gf do all the work in the sack while you lie back and enjoy it. But whatever you do, REST REST REST. Your body simply does not have the resources to fight the disease and deal with the stress of bodybuilding at the same time.

Scrappy is right about cutting out the AASs to spare your liver.

Just take it as a given that you will not be able to lift for maybe a couple of months, and that it will take maybe another couple of months before you're up to speed. Don't force yourself. I know it sucks, but life sucks sometimes so just shrug your shoulders and move past it.

Had it when I was in my teens. Nasty stuff. Rest and drinking iced cold water will help you get over it.

I had it, grey gave you good advice just rest a couple of months... you will be back before you know it. Don't eeven bother putting added stress on your body you will just prolong it.
