Hey Kelly Slater, last night before I went to bed, I read a great article in Sports Illustrated on the life of Kelly Slater. It is an excellent article. Basically talked about how he started surfing in the florida area - Cocoa beach was mentioned a lot. How his Dad became an alcoholic and his Mother left with him and his two sisters.

How when he first came to ouahu, the first time he saw how huge the waves were, he got terrified and didn't know if he could do it. And now look at him - he is universally regarded as the greatest surfer who has ever lived, they call him the Michael Jordan of surfing.
It's in the April 12, 2004 issue of Sports Illustrated - the current one on newsstands now.

Thought you might wanna read the article. It was a great article.

I beleive he is the greatest surfer that ever lived. I am an avid surfer as well and Im actually a photographer for Surfer Magazine too. Kelly is a great person too (having met him on several occasions).

I quit dippin' once. But i had no choice. Spent 2 weeks in jail and no smoke or chew. I sucked on Jolly Ranchers all day long.
When i got out i told myself i was going straight to the Gas station and get me a can of Kodiak! Never did till about 6 months later cause all the guys i worked with chew and the peer presure got to me. Picked up smoking for about 3yrs. Quit cold turkey.
3 weeks after i quit smokin i picked up a can of Skoal. I limit myself to 1 or 2 a day but now I'm on 3rd shift so its slowly growing. One of the guys i work with chews so it kinda rubs off on me. But i just read someone above say Skoal Berry...Yep my can just called my name too. THANKS!! HAHA

I used to throw some lip burgers in my face...I got over that shit real quick when I saw my old football coach's face after he had mouth cancer surgery. very bad for ya...worse than cigarettes in my opinion.

Tonyton, I actually dip for health reasons. My dentists says that I have far too many teeth. If I don't start losing them soon the consequences could be catastrophic. Also, from what I hear, the jawless look is in this year. I'm making a fashion statement without saying a word.

This thread kills me. When I first went to college I attended a JUCO... I went on a Football scholarship but the school was still more known for it's Rodeo program (I live in the Mid west) So half these Rodeo chicks walking down the halls would have a can of cope or skoal in their back pocket... It's very weird hitt'n up a chick for a dip of snuff... but it does come in handy if you're a chewer with no cash..

I chewed for 15 years..And just quit last December... only been off for about 4 months.. but I tell you.. just thinking about all that chewing tobacco makes my mouth water!... Damn I want a chew!
