I think I almost tore my pec or tie-in

Last week when I was doing close grip declines, my pec delt tie-in (or whatever that thick tendon thing in your armpit is) locked up and hurt pretty bad during one of my reps. I didn't do anything else for chest that day and haven't since. What I don't get about it is that the exercise I was doing doesn't seem like it would do this to me, there is almost no rotation of the shoulder with a close grip, especially on a decline. Close grip declines are usually totally painless for me, that's why I love them. Go figure. Anyways, the tendon is sore to the touch, almost like it is bruised, and I feel a little pain when I pull my left arm across the front of my body. I don't think I can put much weight on it, and I'm scared that I might be on the verge of something worse like a pec tear. Also, I have been getting pain in my left biceps tendon lately, which might be related. I have been icing it about once a day, is there anything else that I should do other than just wait it out and let it heal on its own. I know that powerlifters probably get pain like this a lot, especially the biceps tendonitis, so I'm hoping some of you guys can chime in.

Well, you didn't tear your pec - if you had, you would have bruised very, very badly.

Most likely you just pulled something a bit. I hope you iced it some last week. From here I would take some hot baths and massage it, and start doing bench presses with the bar, pushups, etc. until things start to feel back to normal.

Ice isn't of much help 48+ hours after the trauma. Hot baths, massage, etc, stretch before lifting, and then ice immediately following lifting.
