If you saw a teen being bullied how would you react as an adult?

Sort of an odd question here, but how would some of you react if you witnessed a teenager being bullied and ganged up on?

I witnessed these 2 punks picking on some innocent kid today at a park with my son. Just a cpl bullies taunting this kid to the point ppl began leaving the park becaise these pricks were so obnoxious and looking for someone to fuck with.

Kid they were fucking with was fat, looked poor as shit, his bike was falling apart. I asked him ,"do you know those guys over there?" He said he didn't know them and they kept threatening him. As he was going to leave they started following him and I just couldn't let this teenager get his ass beat by a cpl bullies so I intervened. I honestly couldn't tell if they were 20 years old or 16. Now, of course I'm not gonna fight some teenagers but I sort of let them know what was up.

If you saw a cpl idiots fucking with some kid who did nothing to them and were about to chase him down to jump him would you try to neutralize it? Just something I've never dealt with before.

I said to the fat kid being bullied ,"hey come here for a minute. Listen man, you told me over there a few minutes ago that you wanted to play football. Well the way you beat assholes like that is you work hard to build yourself up and you make the football team. Start doing pushups everyday and build yourself up so you aren't an easy target for pieces of shit like that, and it'll help you make the football team and be better at football too."

Maybe I shouldn't have done shit, but if there is one thing in my life I can't stand it's a fucking bully!

Definitely intervene. In most cases it'll likely go like yours did, call them on it and they'll stop at least while you're there. Fuck bullies

I, just like many kids growing up, was bullied relentlessly. Doing what you did, not only helped the kid with good advice, it shows him there are still decent people that care. Who knows what other problems he/she may be facing. Hearing your story makes me think of the scene from the show True Detective. Ray goes to the bullies house and beats the shit out of the dad in front of him, and then tells the bully "if you ever bully or hurt anyone again, I will come here and butt f*** your dad next to your moms headless corpse on this god da** lawn." Not saying that is the proper course of action, but given my experience with bullies, that scene definitely makes me smirk. All joking aside, I think you did exactly what most of us here would have done.

The thing about bullies is they are weak. They pick on those they know wont fight back. Not to mention they tend to bulky in groups.

Stand up to them either as the one being bullied or an intervener and they tend to always back down.

You absolutely did the right thing man. The world needs more of that. I would've done the same. It's always bothered me to see things like that. I once saw 2 assholes picking on a homeless guy outside of a convenience store and I intervened.

When my son was in elementary school, he had this big fat kid that loved to fuck with him. Bully POS even pulled a knife on him and told him that he would cut him up... we're talking 5th or 6th grade here. I was so pissed. Told my boy to kick this little faggot in the nuts, gouge his eyes, whatever but my boy's a good kid and didn't want to get in trouble. And he was honestly scared of this kid. The kid was built like a brick shithouse. Stood a good head taller than everyone else in his grade. I talked to his principal but that didn't help matters. I was about to the point of paying some older kids to beat the fuck out of this kid but was fortunate enough to run into his daddy at school one morning. The bully pointed me out to his dad and the big fat motherfucker tried to give me the kill you eyes. I got fired up, stretched a few times, put my hands up and started coming straight to his daddy. This guy was probably 6'4", 300-350 lbs. As soon as he seen I was ready to whip his ass, he retreated his fat ass into his kids classroom to hideout. I saw him again one time at the grocery store with his kid and gave him a shoulder check when I walked by, but he was just a big pussy. He didn't want none and his son stopped fucking my boy...fuck bullies and their bitch made daddies.

There was a kid in grade 9 that was deemed the toughest kid in school. I dont know why as he had never fought anyone. One day in gym class, I had to sit out as I had the week before had a cast taken off from a broken leg. Anyways he kicked the chair out from underneath me in an attempt to bully me. Then while they were in the change room he sent some out to get me to come into the locker room and I did. He came at me and I grabbed him by the throat and ran him clear across the room, pinned him to the lockers and told him afterschool at the end of the alley we are going to finish this and left. The entire rest of the day the entire school came up to me and told me I was going to get my ass beat, I said I didnt care, regardless who wins this ends today. So at the end of the day I am at my locker putting my books away and getting ready to go fight this guy and there is a tap on my shoulder. I turn around and it was him, he said sorry man I dont want to fight you.

That was it, he knew if I kicked his ass it was over for him. As it turned out, him backing down ended up being the end of his tough guy status

Bullying is tolerated in this society because this country is built around cruelty and violence. Hypercompetitive societies like ours lack empathy and see difference as weakness. You either conform to what is expected or you will get fucked with relentlessly. Like being poor, having clothing that is cheap or unkept...ect.

You can't turn this off and on for different moments of your life, you either view tormenting another fellow human being as evil and completely unacceptable or you become a monster yourself. We see this everyday on the media, some cop shooting or beating the shit out of someone doing nothing more than asking questions, we see people screaming in others faces, working like dogs to keep their boss happy.

Kindness is looked down on, it's a form of weakness to many people. Nice guys finish last, it's not untrue, many people that are nice and passive will get kicked around and abused. Constant humiliation is their lot in life.

So you have millions on antidepressants, people losing their minds, suicide, hopelessness, psychosis.

I once read where the Dalai Lama commented once what he thought of the United States, he said the first thing he noticed was that you have nice cars, homes,..ect, but your medicine cabinets are full of antidepressants and drugs.

It's ain't pretty what this society is despite the relentless propaganda that is shoved down our throats that this country is the greatest and you should shut the fuck up if you have any criticisms.

As for bullying we all went through it, but it doesn't have to keep going, there are ways to teach kids to view violence as embarrassing, to teach them principles based on non-violence, to view all forms of violence to man and animal as wrong, but these teachings would be considered radical in a country where much of the economy is built on exploitation of the weak.

I grew up in the 70's and 80's, parents beat their kids, kids beat each other. It's better now, but I never learned anything when a parent threatened me or back in those days they could actually beat the hell out of you growing up in Texas.

It's all sadistic, I still have flashbacks from my stepfather beating the shit out of me, tripping me and slamming my head into the pavement for being home 5 minutes late, ramming a spoon into back of my throat if I didn't clean my plate. It was a house of horrors.

So I speak from experience, violence doesn't work and only teaching non-violence will this society stop this insanity, but you will have to completely remake this society, it will take a shit load of work.

A good reference point would be to look at India's Caste system where classes look down on each other based on birth/family name which established their social status.

I often times wonder about in the United States when someone is introduced, they will ask, "what do you do". From there they size each other up, it's just another way of establishing caste or social status.

This is why I always went out of my way to treat anyone with lower paid jobs with kindness, talk to them and stop the relentless cruelty that I have witness many times to these people by those further up the food chain.

Instead of worrying about employment or education, how about just asking people how they're doing and wish them a good day. It's not necessary to always compete. We've got to get this USofA brainwashing out of our heads, it's twisted us and making millions miserable.

While I'm sure our animal nature is to do many things. What purpose does it serve to fuck with someone. Why not just leave them alone to live their lives the way they see fit.

And I agree we see it in animals all the time, they are viscous to each other, but we have the advantage of having a long adolescence where we can be taught to act more civilized, we're not slaves to our primal instincts like lesser animals.

Couple weeks ago I stopped for gas in a bad part of town. Mind you I’m in my 20s and juiced out of my mind at 6’ 210pounds 12% bf. As I was walking in a group of teenagers no older than 18-20 were threatening a kid basically ganging up on him 6 to 1 calling him names saying they are going to beat his ass and shit. So as I got closer I lost my cool. Straight up told the kids if I hear one more thing and if they even make a single move on the kid that I’d fuck them all up. As a child, if some twink I can't stand is bouncing around, pissing me off you betcha I'm going to let him know it's his time to leave. I don't care if he is allowed to be there or not. He's going to leave regardless of how he feels. That's being a bully and imo that's fine.
