Yes it is very acidic. It actually not that soluble in it base form. You need base to make it into solution

sorry to hijack. I made 20ml of L-Carnitine 500mg/ml a few months ago with no problems. crystal clear and zero pip. i used distilled water and ba. ph strip showed it was at 7. I ran out and decided to make 60ml's. this one is also crystal clear. but, ph is showing its 9 somehow. it has a bite to it. how do you go about lowering the ph? sodium bicarbonate usp? if so, how do you know how much to add?

Just reading through this thread. This bubbles are just carbon dioxide is being released when neutralising acids with a bicarbonate salt. It’s safe and normal. Sodium hydroxide is more dangerous to work with so you can just use more bicarbonate to increase the pH.

Anyone tried this? Would like to not need another specialised ingredient lol

For L-Carnitine you need acetic acid to lower the pH. I use white vinegar. I add small amounts and test with pH strips until I get to 7. I just made 120mls a few days ago ago. No pip.

What concentration do you make it at? I make 600mg/mL but never has any PIP
