Sea Lamprey are ugly, destructive little fuckers.

In my neck of the woods, we were advised to kill any that were found because of their negative impact on the fish population.

Would imagine that's probably advised for any place that they show up.

In the ocean they have a different purpose and to my understanding they do not kill the fish. Only feed to live. In fresh water 1 lamprey eats as much as 40 lbs of fish before feeding season is over. They are parasites and the great lakes conservation dept pours poison specifically designed to kill lamprey. Poison is a loose word. Dont exactly know what it is. But if fisherman find them along with snakehead they are instructed to kill onsite. Not doing so could result in a fine

No sea lamprey in my neck of the woods but we have several small native species that you usually just see attached to drum.
