Intra-workout drink/shake: what works best?

I put 2 scoops of whey, 25g collagen and 10g creatine with some preworkout and 2 teaspoons dried instant decaf coffee.

I sip on that over a 1.5 hour workout.

Drinking whey during a workout took a while to get used to but now its fine

Isolate, hydrolysate or concentrate?

I would most certainly vomit on an innocent bystander if I tried this. You sir are a bad bad man

What is your logic behind using whey isolate/protein powder intraworkout?

try adding 4-6g baking soda or 3-4g table salt with 25-40g carbs and see if you notice any benefits :)

If you want to enhance the collagen synthesis effects from the collagen, you can add vitamin C, but be aware that antioxidants like vitamin C periworkout can negatively impact training adaptions by limiting ROS thats needed for the recovery/adaption process.

I used to drink it as a pre workout shake but I moved it to intra workout mainly because

- I cant eat right after training due to the fact I work out at lunch time. So sometimes I eat like 3.30 or even a bit later after my workout so im trying to bridge the gap a bit
- I try to sip whey a bit more slowly since I read your body can absorb it very quickly.

Yes i do add salt and potassium chloride also sometimes. Didn't try baking soda I heard it can mess up your stomach lining is that true?

I generally keep antioxidants 2 hours away pre and post workout due to that very reason.

I honestly don't get much extra performance benefits from fancy preworkout supplements. the only thing that noticeably helped me was a dextrose (glucose) water I chug before I go to work out. I just melt 60g in 3 cups of water, drink, and go. Not the most pleasant experience but it does the job. I also sometimes goes to a Chinese supermarket nearby and buy coconut water because it also has glucose and hydrates you without overwhelming flavor.

Been trying cyclic dextrin currently, it's unflavoured but I'm mixing it with eaas, taurine and creatine. That thing is sticky, has a glueish texture which i don't like.

I miss karbolyn but that thing was pricey, i don't like spending 60 bucks for sugar with a good flavour. I'm probably gonna try some dextrose next time, although i can find it only unflavoured as well and i don't know how it's gonna actually taste.

dextrose just taste sweet, maltodextrin tends kinda bland, similar to creatine i would say.

Ok thanks, so i guess unflavoured dextrose with flavoured eaas will be palatable. I'm gonna try this instead of staying with cyclic dextrin. I'd buy some Gatorade powder but in EU it's not a thing like in US and it's pricey here last time i checked.

Dextrose is glucose so it mainly tastes like table sugar but a little less sweet

It will taste better with any flavored additions
