Is a 500 calories over maintenance diet optimal for a 500 mg/wk test e cycle?

I have done some research but cant find an opinion that most people agree on. I used to eat 1000+ calories a day during bulking (no steroid) and gained a lot of fat along with muscle, and it's painful for me to cut because I like eating delicious food. I am wondering if eating clean, should i go 500 or more than 1000 calories over maintenance during a test e cycle? If I eat 1000 calories over maintenance, will the added fat be neglectable compared to the added muscle due to steroid?

To be honest I would worry much more about hitting your macros than the actually calorie count. Make sure you get that 1.5g of protein per lb of bodyweight along with a healthy portion of carbs and fat as well. The carbs and fats are where you should make your adjustment in calories. 500 to 750 is a good place to start Imo. You also have to remember that one of the great effects of steroids are the nutritional partitioning benefits, which means what you take in will be used more efficiently. So with all that being said start at 500 over maintenance and keep a tab on your figure. If you notice that you seem to be putting on fat back off some but that's easier said than done because that good Ole test bloat will fool you sometimes so it's harder to use your eyes and the scale to determine fat gain on cycle. But personally that's what a cut cycle before summer is for.

Ah so starting at 500 then maintaining at 1000 is about right?

But only if your reaching your macros. 1000 over maintenance with fucked up macros will surely give you copious amounts fat and less muscle growth.

As long as you eat 1g of protein per lb of body weight, +500 cal will work. if you throw cjc dac or anavar into the cycle, you can eat +1000 cal without messing up body composition.

U serious?? Not sure what OP's goals are, but I doubt he wants to become a fatty.

Thank you I agree. I fucked my first cycle following advice like that and eating way too much(all clean), therefore getting too fat too early on cycle. Ya gotta track and know your body..

I haven't started my cycle yet. I'm still planning. But Im looking to eat 240g of protein (chicken beef fish protein bar etc) and a moderate amount of fat (avocado pecan eggs and fat from meat etc) and whatever amount of carb (brown rice, sweet potato, wheat bread) to fulfill a 2800 to 3000 calories diet which is about 500 over my maintainance. I will also have dinners with my family so that might not be clean but I will try to keep other meals as clean as possible.

What works best for me was eating at tdee or a bit above100-200 calories then capping that with a good quality mass builder for that extra 600-1000 cals.
Remeber also that as your cycle moves forward and you gain muscle your tdee will move to higher cals burned.

I don't know if you're going to run any other compounds, but I had a blast running tren and eating slightly above maintenance. bill roberts recommends first cycles with tren/test if this is your first.. it depends on whether you're trying to lose body fat or you're like me and you're an ecto, so you're looking to pack on mass cause you're a skinny fuck lol.. what are your stats? Body weight, bf%, years lifting, experience with steroids, etc... how have you been eating lately? How much cardio do you do? How often do you lift and for how long? High intensity or no? Do you know if you burn a lot of cals when you lift, or do you just kind half ass it like a lot of people? give us a background

I mean, a lot of guys will tell you to eat eat eat like there's no limit. I ate like a madman until I felt like I was putting on too much fat, then I lowered the calories for the last couple weeks of my cycle and felt much better.

Yea and WHO will be cooking this for you bc what you just described is what I hear every day but it doesn't last much beyond a week or two bc it's to monotonous and unpalatable.

Post a 3 day meal plan if you believe otherwise!

If you got "fatter" during your last cycle your problem is NOT an AAS deficiency but rather a dietary one.

And those who are fat almost always get "fatter" when running AAS, bc they have been told WRONGLY AAS will help you "cut the fat", NOT!!!

So cut the fat thru changing your diet (which is NOT the same as "dieting") and aerobic exercise and only then should you be cycling or YOU WILL GET FATTER!

The mirror is your friend. Eat like a mother fucker. If youre starting to gain too much fat then clean it up for a bit.

Have either of you read the OPs post, bc he's ALREADY OVERWEIGT with a high TBF and yet your suggesting he eat like the incredible BULK! NOT!

I mean that's THE PROBLEM for those who are overweight, they EAT TO MUCH, and much of what they eat is often JUNK, but your telling him that's ok, EAT MORE.

Hello!
Ya I read"I gained a lot of fat". Not hey I'm fat.
Sorry Doc but aas use allowed me to pretty much eat what I want and I lost fat. Without aas losing weight takes me at least twice as long. I'd say more like I can lose 3 times faster.

.

That's a good point but the SCALE is not necessarily helpful there either bc "bloat" is due to WATER retention.

To that end "a look in the mirror" is often telling BUT then again first time cyclist haven't the faintest idea what to "look for"so on a more objective basis it's best to assume ANY weight gain that EXCEEDS 2 POUNDS a WEEK (one being optimal) is due to EITHER WATER or FAT GAIN!

Finally understand similar to SKM the formation of adipose tissue does take some time and the body will TRY to use any excess for energy requiring metabolic processes.

This means the more abrupt the weight gain the more likely it's due to WATER RETENTION!
