I've been bulking up quite a bit with the weights etc and am thinking of now buying a rowing machine to help lose the excess pounds and tone up at home whist watching tele.

Is a rowing machine a good choice.... only have fat around the belly (spare tyre) would this be a good choice for burning this fat and not losing muscle mass.....

Rowing is probably one of the most demanding forms of cardio you can do. I think it would be quite effective for helping shed some pounds.

Thanks for the comments... Rowing machine it is then... was thinking about one of those eliptical cross trainers but they seem to only work the lower body, where rowing tackles the whole body in one workout.....

My diet has been a bit pants lately as i've been following the 5x5 weight programme and bulking up.... just need to lose that little bit of a belly that i've had from day one and tone up the muscles i've developed.....

My own version of the 5x5 program has been to pyramid the weight up each set to my 5 rep max (which has improved no end since i started) then doing a drop set to failure for a real burn.....

An example of wieghts for me now are - Milatary press : 30kg dumbbells, flat bench : 40kg, ezbar curls 2x20kg weights....

this is fantastic for me, i couldn't even do 20 kg bench when i started :)

thanks for your advice again Bob, i always take your advice.

well I think if he was too push a snowmobile around all summer he would lose weight. :D or maybe put it up in a tree with that other guy and his crosbow gym. :D
