If it's pressed between 2 pieces of bread and all 4 sides are exposed then it's a sandwich. Otherwise call it a wrap or turnover

THESE. These are the questions...

It’s closer to a hot pocket than a sandwich
So technically the stipulation for a sandwich is it has to have ingredients between two pieces of bread. But does the bread have to be separated? Another trait of a sandwich, of course, is it had to be portable. So with that being said I feel a stromboli should be considered a sandwich. But some might say it is it's own entitie.

But then what about a hot dog? This would be considered a sandwich as well by those rules.

Apparently a hot dog is considered a sandwich in CA, but we also know CA is the land of fruits & nuts, so take that for what it’s worth. A burrito is considered sandwich-LIKE, but not a sandwich.

Stromboli is a folded pizza. Way too big to be a sandwich. How about a calzone?

I’ll pose the argument that Stromboli and calzones are not a sandwich because it’s not made on bread, it’s made on dough that is then baked into bread. Totally different than a sandwich.

And Stromboli’s are usually made by an Italian guy. Sandwiches are made by a good woman. [emoji23]
