Islamic Takeover?

My sister is married to a Muslim man from Bangladesh. They have two great children, boys. I thougt I knew my brother-in-law pretty well. Was I wrong.

The other day I was over to thier house and we were discussing my older nephew ( who is going through puberty). My BiL says " He will never find a wife who will obey him with his grades." I chuckled yet was bewildered by this comment. My sister gave him "The Look". Conversation continued on towards religion, mostly due to my confused look, he felt the need to explain.

"In the Muslim religion, the wife obeys the man". Ok.. I can roll with that, not that I can get mine to obey, but I can roll with it. (btw, he cant get my sister to obey either)

What he said next made my blood run cold.

"One day, the Quran says, the Muslims will once again rule the world."

My heart jumped to my throat and I think he knew he said the wrong thing to the wrong person. My sister immediately changed the subject back to the boy.

Nothing more was said about it, but it disturbs the hell out of me.

Am I making more of it than I should?

Yeah, I think you are making too much out if it. Remember, some Christian groups also teaches that one day, Christians will rule over everyone as well. Some Christian groups even teach that, as a Christian, you will one day rule your own planet (by yourself). Also, Christianity also teaches that women should be submissive to men.

Personally, I dont see to much difference between Christianity and Islam, except that Islam is where Christianity was during the Dark Ages. (I dont mean in theological teaching, I mean in attitude).

The Bible does teach that women should submit to their husband, and a major discussion could be had about what that really means. From the way I read those passages, along with other Scripture about marital relationships, a Christian wife is not submissive in the sense that she is his slave. I dont know if thats what Muslims believe, OT could answer that one better.

I do believe that a Christian wife should submit to her husband, especially when it comes to anal sex. :D jk, but Im serious about the submit part. But I dont see the Bible saying that the woman is a slave or her sole purpose is to do what the husband says. Not at all.

I completely agree, but I dont know if the Qu'ran teaches that either. I think it was interpreted that way by the culture. I have read some of the Qu'ran and I havent read that it said slave or anything. Remember, there are some Christian groups that do interpret it to mean the wife is practically a slave. Its a tough question, especially because there is sometimes a conflict between religious teaching and current ideas of equality. Muslims (extreme forms) dont have this problem because there is no idea of equality.

Well I have to tell you this much, my brother in law is not one to force his religion on anyone.
He will tell you his beliefs. He will also tell you what the Bible says.
He has studied Islam, Christianity, and the Jewish religion (forgive me, I forgot what it is called).
I have never heard him make comments that would make me think he is a zealot or an extremist. He sent his older son to a Jewish daycare because he knew they wouldnt feed him pork.
He doesnt come off as a predjudice person, but he firmly believes in his religion.
I guess that's why I was taken back by his statement. But I suppose if I think about it, he wasnt saying it like he was ready to kill. It was more as though he was reciting his Holy book.
I guess it just struck me the wrong way.

By the way, the submissive part... I dont think the women read that. I think they skim right over it! lol :D

"One day, the Quran says, the Muslims will once again rule the world."
Reminds me of a book I once read- the premise- If you kiss a frog they turn into a prince.

Bob and Mark, you guys hit the nail on the head, it all depends on how you want to read things. I'm a muslim, and my wife is equal to me in everything, except that i'm the one who has to work and feed the family (and she's the one who gets to spend the money :D). We both clean the dishes, clean the house, do the laundry (i have to admit that she's better than me in the laundry part though :)).

jarz, just for the record, i don't remember reading anything like that in Qur'an (taking over). However, we do believe that something like that will happen one day, but the thing your BiL forgot to tell you is that we actually believe that it is Jesus who will make this possible by leading the Islamic forces against the Anti-Christ (interesting eh?). After defeating the Anti-Christ, Jesus will rule the world, and there will be no wars anymore, peace will come to earth. A few years after that, it's judgement day.

Yeah well said.I also think something like that is said in the quran but it also places responsility upon the man to take care of ALL expenses and the wife basically is only responsible for household chores.Im no expert in islam so oldtimer prolly knows more than i do.

It's my job. I'm a consultant and i have clients all over the planet. My travels have taken me to interesting places (from South Africa, all the way to Northern Europe).

Wow that sounds awsome what about family? what do you mean by consultant would it be like you work for an insurance company and you go out and talk to clients and stuff like that. Have you ever been to Japan? if so can you get AAS legaly OTC? Iam 22 now and have been to 6 countries and two many states to count i love to travel i mostly love the different cultures and wildlife of other places.

The only drawback is the social life. My wife is a student, and if she doesn't have school and i'm staying in the destination for 4 days or more, she tags along.

I work in the services department in an IT company. My clients need advice in IT related matters (specifically, security related advice).

The only place i have never been to is the oriental side of the planet, mainly, because of language barriers and the charset they use in their IT.

If you're young and single, traveling is good, but you get sick of it as you grow older.

Crewchief,

I lived in Japan for three years in the late 90s. Can't get AAS OTC in Japan. Also lived in China. In China, AAS is not OTC, but at least the tablets are readily available.

All the Muslim's do is fight and kill over religion. Constant fighting overseas. Always got to fight for power and control. Fuck all that shit. Be free and happy and live without slodiers with guns around every corner. That's not life.

This here is life. Flame all you want, cause I don't give a shit. Lets all live in pease and enjoy the life that was given to us.

To much fighting and BS for me. I'm going take a shot now.

The forigners hate this country, but when they move here, it a different story. To many damn forigners here. This is not the US, it the World.
