I am starting in the late spring @ ITT. My pal over at JPMorgan told me that alotta IT jobs just got cut due to 'outsourcing' to India and cheaper labor countries. what specific area would i have a concrete foundation in this field for after school? hardware support? servers and what not? keep in mind, prior to this i was studying more on the component level trouble shooting semiconductor equipment, so this is sorta new to me...i have to give up consistent gym lifting to do this. sux but oh well...any suggestions/advice?

Yea bro you are correct, IT jobs aren't quite what they used to be. Such as in the late 90's anyway with any IT knowledge or experience would get hired in a hearbeat...making decent money, getting decent bene's

NOW it sucks! its an employers market, I know a lot of good IT guys, girls that instead of working in IT are working at home-depot! they just cant get jobs,

the key to having a job in IT is to set your self high above the rest of the others,

Also I've noticed a lot of outsourcing going on, from help-desks to staff! That sucks also! they've been talking about it where I work for a few yrs now!
