Just a thank you from a newbie

This is just a little thank you to all the people who have helped one another here on this site.
I myself am new to the TRT scene. If I wouldnt have run across this site I would still be in the dark about some of the tests needed and issues you can have while doing TRT. You should all give yourself a big pat on the back.

It sounds like a lot of you have had the same problem Ive had in trying to find a Dr. that will listen to us, and not just treat us to the numbers. My GP tried to tell me it was a marital problem. I dont think he heard a thing I had told him about the half a dozen other problems I was having. The only thing he heard was I didnt have a sex drive, so it must be in my head. I did manage to get him to run a few of the tests like PSA, Prolactin, TSH, and a total T. And when the results of my total T came in a 348 ng/dl I think he was still reluctant.

I then went to an Urologist who again only ran a total T but also ran LH, FSH, and Prolactin test again. This time my total T came back a 245 ng/dl. Only 5 weeks after my first T test. One thing he did note was my LH was only 1.1. Possible tumor on my pituitary? Im going to see an Endo for that.

It makes me wonder if some of these Dr.s suffered from low T if they then would understand our problem, and wouldnt be so damn reluctant to treat us RIGHT.

Those of you who live close to SWALE are extremely lucky to have such a fine DO to help treat you.

One thing that would be very nice to see would be a sticky where people could post the names of physicians who have helped them with this problem and treated them right, and where they are located. I live in Washington and have had a hard time locating a physician who will treat me right. I did find and Endo who is a DO in Portland, OR. So Ill let you know how well she handles this problem.

Again thank you all for the information Ive found on this site.

Dave--

Welcome aboard.

That is a really good idea. I'm just not quite sure how to go about it.

yep its a great community

i wished other doctors/specialists/physicians participated in online forums such as this. That way they show that they are open to new material and you can also get an idea of how he/she treats different things. Even if only for an hour a week, it should be mandatory lol

Hi Dave and welcome. Go to the top of the screen and read the Sticky "How To Find a New Dr." Also go to this link and click on Find a Dr.
http://www.tuneupyourt.com/
But be warned that a lot of the Dr.'s that come up for your state are not up on Testing and Treating Low T. Your best bet would be to try to get your family Dr. to work with SWALE "DR. John." here is his site.
http://www.allthingsmale.com/ read and print out TRT:A Recipe for Success and HCG Update. Give your family Dr. a copy and tell him you want to be treated by Dr. John though him. If he will not do this try to get him you treat you to Dr. John's Protocol.

If for some reason this fails then start calling Dr.'s for the list you got above and ask questions like how many men does the Dr. treat for Low T. ask if the Dr. tests for high E2 "Estradiol" and if so does he use Arimidex to keep it down. Also ask if one is secondary does the Dr. treat them with HCG. You will know when you find a good one. I stay away from Endo's and Uro's they just don't know and will not say they don't know I have been to 7 Endo's in the last 21 plus years and never found one that was any good with low T. What a big waste of money. I never felt very good on TRTand have been on it for over 21 yrs. Until I got my Dr. to try Dr. John's Protocol.

Thanks for the advice Phil I do have to see an Endo just to make sure theres not a tumor and she is an Osteopath so maybe she will be more open to treating me. If she doesn't workout there's a clinic in Yelm, Washington run be a Dr. Cranton. He seems to be up on TRT and only 50 miles away.

I'm not sure how well the e-mail on the forum works, but I also sent SWALE an e-mail letting him know I would help keep a list updated with the Dr.s people are using here. All he would have to do is re-update the list weekly since he's a moderator, I'll do the rest.

Would make a good sticky to help people who are newbies to TRT find a Dr. that is qualified in this field. So if anyone knows of a good Dr. other than SWALE (I know he's the best) send me the info (Name, Specialty,Phone, Address, Web site, Ect) and I'll start putting a doc together.

Thanks Dave

Dave we did this at the H2 group.
http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/hypogonadism2/
And it did not help much seems that when one finds a good DR. and starts feeling better you never hear back from them.

Thats a bummer! I guess I look at it like if I find someone who will help me the right way I would want to share this info with others in hoping to help someone else. Just by sharing my problem with my co-workers I have gotten some of them thinking maybe they should get checked. Knowledge is a wonderful thing and should be shared to help others!

Go there it is a dam good group and join SWALE goes there from time to time. And look in the data section for Dr. I feel it is all about out of site out of mind.
Phil

Thanks for the info Phil.
I just joined the Yahoo group too and it looks like I have a lot more reading to do. I don't see the Endo until October so I have lot of time to (smarten myself up).

At least my Urologist is giving me 200 mg of Depo T every 2 weeks to help. I go in in a week for blood work to see where I'm at. I plan on giving myself shots and I will do 100 mg once a week to smooth things out. I asked his nurse some of the questions about checking for Estriodol and using Arimidex and if he used HCG and she gave me the deer in the headlights look. I thought OH Crap. I haven't had any issues yet but I want a Dr. who knows what to do just in case I do.

LOL: "....she gave me the deer in the headlights look....." hahahaha. That's a good one! That situation is sooooooooo recognisable. Don't worry: the more you get "the deer in the headlights look", the more it proves that YOU are becoming knowledgeable on TRT and THEY are not.
