Kinesiology, is it real science?

I'm not sure if kinesiology is different in the US but over here in Germany there are people who claim to offer kinesiological testing which is basically a joke and not any different to reading out of the hands or using tarot cards.
They way they "test" things is for example by asking a patient a question and then waiting for an answer for example tense muscle means yes and loose muscle means no. Or another way of testing wether your body tolerates a substance is by giving the patient the substance in the hand and then doing a muscle test. How retarded is this? If I take a pill into my hand then how is my body supposed to know if I tolerate it if I ingest it? This is absolutely retarded medieval superstition and obviously many people fall for this stuff which they label as kinesiology. I remember one day I walked by a hair dresser studio and they said they offer kinesiological testing to find the right hair color. :banghead:

I guess they are not all cut from the same clothe. Phil Maffetone is an applied kinesiologist. He influenced some of the great multi sport endurance athletes in the 90's and beyond. I had three great triathlon seasons using his methods.

Here's a sample of his work.

I also read about kinesiology in psychology today where they discussed all kinds of new age stuff like astrology and also kinesiology and it seems like kinesiology really isn't very scientific at all. It's basically the same as asking the universe for answers. But then I wonder how come kinesiology is taught at universities in the USA? I mean what do they teach there?

Kineseology is required in many biology, physiology, pre-med, physical ed., physical therapy, and more fields.

But then they must understand something different under kinesiology than stuff like: Did yo daddy treat you bad as a little kid? Do you have an oedipus complex? Stretch out your arm, we'll find out.

i was seeing a old dinosaur of a chiro in 2004, he used applied kinesiology i thought he was a sham at first... he would have me lay back hold a arm up he would push on it left side wouldn't move right side would, he would run his fingers up my arm, up my chest and then have me hold my arm up again. This time it wouldn't move, i was like BS after a few visits so i called him on it, and we did the same thing again, but with a neck adjustment... my arm held true, so the following visit he said , i prefer not to use adjustments when i don't have to allow me to use the kinesiology again, same thing... but this time i was like you really push hard on my arm i think its fake... The old man who was about 73 let out a huge fart from pushing so hard and you could see he was winded holding is breath trying to push my arm down... so the kinesi actually worked the same as my neck adjustment with no risk of injury or stroke.. after that i was sold.

i have seen various people since then, i think some are frauds or don't have all the addition training in medicine they need to make it work. I googled it on youtube once, and it was like 9000 videos of people discrediting the field.
