Lifts Relative to Weight

Since we can brag about other people - a member of this board that I am friends with weighs ~145-155. He squats 450, which is right around 3x bodyweight. His bench is only about 225, which would be almost right at 1.5x bw, but his dead is around 400, so again, close to 3x bw. Strong little f*cker.

Now, Matts (former?) training partners are from a whole other planet. For one of them, ballpark around a 3.25x bw deadlift at ~275 pounds.

Actually, PLUSAs top 100 list for the 275s came out today and my partner was #1 on the deadlift at 830. How cool is that?

Matt

wow, some of you have some very nice totals. This is an interesting question too......

I'm at 225, 6'2" and I raw benched 405 last week, squatted 500 and pulled 575 without a shirt or suit, etc.... so I guess that's: 1.8, 2.22, 2.55 respectively.

AM, you were talking about mil pressing your body weight, then you said something about 300 over your head, do you count the push press in that? I only ask, because I know there are several of us that can push press at least 3 plates, but since you said strickly.......

Take care guys.

Very cool. And besides being incredibly strong, both brothers are all around cool guys to talk to.

Ok, now I see I have to defend myself. If those two monster's Phreezer and AM would have just kept out of this, I wouldn't feel so pussified. LOL "Back in the day" when I was super heavy into lifitng and that was my life, I actually used to be strong. My squat still sucked, but I pulled 585 twice at the end of a workout. I've tripled 455 on bench as my 5 or 6th set. And I've also pulled 675 for 7 from pins set at right below knee height. Man, I used to have muscles! Where'd the all go? I'm going to cry now. ;)

As I've said before, I don't think I'm built for strength. I have 6.25-6.5" wrists. I've lost about 10lbs in the last couple of months (triathalon) so I now weigh about 185. I'm a little below my max lifts right now, but here are my current #'s. My bench is about 1.35 @250, squat 1.7@315. I've never maxed my dead's but I can pull 295 for 3.

This winter I'm going to really go for bulk and see if I can get up to about 220. I might even do a cycle. It would be my first.

Oh, and those are "raw" lifts... LOL.

before i hurt my shoulder i was 5'6 180 and bench 315. Trying to get my bench back up there now at 185lbs and 275lbs

Sounds like you're built to run away from people who are looking for a light snack. :D

BTW, for what it's worth I hit my first official 300lb push press today on an axle (2" bar - no knurling) - no jerk, no split - just good solid pushing.

I know lots of guys can do more, but my overhead has always sucked and now it's coming around. I've been cutting hardcore as well and bodyweight is down from 270 to 249 this morning, so I'm very happy with where I'm at at the moment.

Congrats. It must feel nice to hit a PR while cutting.

Sweet lift brother. Good work.

At 5' 11" and body weight of 232, a few months ago benched raw 435 and squatted 620 (belt and inzer A wraps)I hurt my knee around this time and that side lined me or I would have been squatting more, I had planned on getting up to at least 650. So that's 1.88 for bench and 2.7 for squat. I'm not sure what my shirt and suit maxes are at this time.

Does it count if we are on AAS at the time of the lift because i can get to 300 on bench and 345 on squat at a bodyweight of 175

My best bench was 380 at 198lbs so thats 1.92x bodyweight, I was on cycle during that. Last week I parallel box squatted 515 at 191lbs (summer wreaks havoc on my bodyweight) so thats 2.7x bodyweight. The bench is raw and for the squat I was using briefs/belt.

Thanks for the compliments, Bob. At 135 I did manage to deadlift 405, which was 3x bodyweight, so I have done it in the past in training. Currently, I weigh 145 (just weighed myself out of curiousity) and max at 425 (most recent) so I'm 10 pounds shy of going for 3x bodyweight at the moment.

For push presses I can do bodyweight for 5x5 (just did it a few hours ago)...but I'm not sure if I could do 10 reps in a row. I would imagine I could get close though.

What I'm most pleased with is my weighted chinup. I can do chinups for 3 reps with 75 pounds hanging from my waist, which I think is pretty neat. I haven't seen or heard of anyone else being able to do this, though I'm sure there are plenty of guys out there who could if they felt so inclined.

One of my old training partners did a 600 pound rack pull from the knee without straps at a bodyweight of 150. Holding onto 4 times bodyweight long enough to pull it is a pretty neat feat of grip strength. Try it, its hard.
