Linear periodization

Real failure is ones ability to not be able to do the negative of the lift. So you need a partner. when you get to the point you cant lift its not really failure. You should have a partner then when you get spotted up, properly do the negative lift its then complete failure. That is supposedly one way to workout.

So for chest press you have sompne spot you up when you cant lift it anymore. Then hold the weight up and let it hit chest. Have him lift it up again and repeat until you cant even let the weight to stay up in the negative motion.

It could be done that way or to positive failure etc. training partner is always good but not a must imo.

Ok so say you're on a cycle would this D.C. Training still be optimal? Would you just have fewer test days in between? Or maybe even go twice a day say morning workout is A and night is B then rest day in between? Not saying I'm on one currently but I do plan on doing one in the future. I've been doing this D.C. Training program so far and it's not bad...I'm definitely getting way more rest than I was prior and using a lot heavier weights with controlled reps.

D.C. Is the best program there is for adding mass, period unless you are a new lifter, then greyskull is the best imo. Just follow the D.C. Diet reccommendations. There is a great thread on diet stickies at the top on intwnaemuscle doggpound.

As far as the original question, shortcut to size is linear periodization not linear progression, big difference. But imo jims program suck. I recommend the following programs for adding mass with D.C. Training being the best of your sole focus is bodybuilding. If you want more balance in your life greyskull or 5/3/1 would be better.

Greyskull programs

Wendler 5/3/1 especially the bbb challenge, bbs challenge and the building the monolith templates

D.C. Training

Weighted chin-ups dual factor bodybuilding program posted on here

Madcow

John meadows programs

Any of the west side variations from iron addict

West side for skinny bastards

Max-ot training

@showstoppa thanks a lot man for the advice. I guess I haven't really been training optimal at all then which really excites me tbh because I could have a lot more gainz:rolleyes: usually I would follow splits and linear programs...but had done a push, pull, legs routine in the past. Awesome advice guys I really appreciate it. ;)

No linear programs are the best. The whole key to growth is crazy high amounts of protein(2-2.5xbw), be in a calorie surplus and beating he log book with either rep records or by adding weight.
