Liposuction

I think this has been mentioned before, but how many of you have actually had liposuction? I have been thinking about this lately, and I personally see nothing wrong with it. I have worked my ass off in the gym for 7 years now, and I wouldn't feel guilty or gay at all.

I have taken DNP, used AAS, done my cardio, and eaten my chicken breasts and broccoli, but I'll be damned if I can't get that little layer of fat over my abs to go away. I have about had it, as I could trim down to say 180 (205 right now, but sometimes up to 230 when bulking) and probably lose a lot of it, but I really have no desire to be that skinny (I am 5'10 and don't want to look like Usher). I care about my strength too, and am not going to let my squat and bench decrease by 100lb each.

I want to be able to put on weight without worrying so much about my gut. When you get lipo, the fat is gone for good and that sounds fantastic. In my area, the going rate seems to be around $2000, which isn't that much. If anyone has had this done, let me know how it is.

bump. I'll admit that I've thought along the same lines as J DUB. I worry about the safety of having it done by some of the quack doctors where I live. I'd probably be better off flying to a big city and having a real pro do it. Anybody got some info?

bruce j. nadler is / was one of the best surgeons there is. he has a reputation of doing great work w/ bodybuilders as he is one. however, i'm not sure if he is still operating his practice anymore. he used to work out of nyc/long island area.

The problem as I see it is that people's bodyfat distribution varies so much. I'm not talking about the bodyfat percentage, but how that bodyfat percentage is distributed across one's physique.

Some people can display an awesome, detailed six pack at 10% bodyfat. Whereas, the abdominals may be barely visible on another with 6% bodyfat.

It's not just a matter of lowering bodyfat percentage - anyone can do this. The hard part, practically impossible without surgical procedures, is altering the bodyfat distribution. Such individuals are probably the best candidates for liposuction as it is not used as a substitute for disciplined diet/exercise.

Does anyone know if it is preferable to reduce your bodyfat to extremely low levels (sub 5%) prior to liposuction? Will this approach lead to more successful outcome? Are fees assessed based upon the volume of adipose tissue removed?

I have heard mixed reviews as to whether it is better to have more or less fat before surgery. If I ever actually did this, I would definitely consult several surgeons and ask their opinions.

Yes, fees are based on the amount removed usually, because more tissue=more time.

Doctor Nadler pioneered this type of liposuction. Here's his web site J DUB

I remember seeing an article a while ago where Nelson Montana had this procedure done. Its on the old T-mag site. Here is the address to the article;

Looks pretty compelling, hopefully there are more Doc's doing it so the price has come down.

Mods, I beg forgiveness if I should not be placing this link on the site.

Yes, Nadler is good. He did my gyno 2 years ago. Great doctor. I've been trying to get him to let me shadow him, but he hasn't responded as of late :-\ He has offices out on Long Island and also on Park ave, but his operating table is on Long Island.

When getting abdominal etching surgery, a doctor will consult you on how much is acceptible to have this surgery. Google board certified cosmetic surgeons or cosmetic surgeon referral sites and review message boards of those that have actually had the surgery. I know of several stars that have had it from LL Cool J, the gay on guy on "Will and Grace, Janet Jackson, and several others. I hear it is pretty safe

I've had lipo on my lower abdomen. I, like many of you, was not able to get rid of a small pocket of fat right below my belly button without extreme calorie restriction...which ate away muscle. My upper abs always looked great, but the lower abs looked a little pudgey.

I ended up getting lipo done at Duke and it cost me around $2500. It is a permanent fix in that the fat cells that are removed will not come back. Existing fat cells can of course get larger due to excess calories.

I chose to put on a little weight before getting my surgery. I probably let my BF% get up to around 12%...which for me is pretty fat. I did this so a larger volume/number of fat cells could be removed. When I went for my initial consultation, the Dr. wouldn't even consider doing my upper abs because the BF was too low and it could actually make things look much worse. I wanted to make sure that the Dr. would be able to remove as much as possible, so I made sure I had a little extra fat there.

Afterwards, I was pretty sore for a day or two, and things progressively got better. The worst part of recovery was wearing a binder around your abdomen for a several weeks. This helps keep down the swelling. After the sugery, my lower abdomen was completely flat...as if all fat cells had been removed. As it started to heal, I got a good amount of swelling that made me look the way I did before surgery...it really feels like the fat just came back...weird. This swelling can take many months to completely go away. I would say it was a year before it was 100% gone.

Overall, I'm very glad I did it. The pain was nothing. The binder was a little anoying, but bearable. The swelling sucked the most, but went away with time. It's important to realize this lipo is not for reducing bodyfat. It's for reshaping your body. It's great for ppl who have a disproportionate amount of fat in certain areas of your body. For me, my lower abs always stuck out a little. Now, they are as flat as the rest of my stomach. When I put on weight, both upper and lower get fat evenly, and remain is proportion with each other.

Hope this helps.

Thank you for sharing your experience. This is what I've heard as well from some who underwent the procedure. Those who have had success with "liposculpting" under low bodyfat conditions may have seen a surgeon such as Dr Nadler who works with bodybuilders. I think in large part, it depends on the surgeon and who his/her typical clientele is.

Pulled this one from the graveyard...but I wonder how much has changed a decade later? I think that long ago men were just become curious about the concept, however, today I suspect a great many would be taking advantage of the improvements in cosmetic medical procedures. So, to give new life to this ago old question, how many here have strongly considered undergoing liposuction? Also, I’d anyone of you already have, what has your experiences been?
