I remember BigA saying that real whey can not be sold for that cheap because there is no way these companies buy it that cheap. He said there is 1 company that holds the rights to whey it's rare to see these companies get discounts from that company. He also said these cheap proteins out there claiming to be whey isolate are a mix of concentrate and isolate. I don't know how true this is,because i never really cared to research it. Any thoughts? I'm going to check up on that one you said. thanks

Hi,

There's about six companies in the USA that make isolate. That's plenty to keep prices low. Companies charge a lot, because they can get it.

That doesn't mean to not look at the ingredients, because a lot of isolates are cut by the seller (not the manufacturer). Also, look at the protein percentage. An isolate should be about 90%.

Take Care

I'd do a comparison between ion exchange and micro/ultrafiltration.
going by what i read they lose some potentcy through the Ion exchange process but it still comes out to be better quality than Micro filtered

Isopure is ion exchange. Ion exchange was the first technology. Here's part of an article that pertains:

"The Whey It Is" by Will Brink

"... Ion exchange is made by taking a concentrate and running it through what is called an ion exchange column to get an ion exchange whey isolate. Sounds pretty fancy but there are serious drawbacks to this method. As mentioned above, whey protein is a complex protein made up of many sub fraction peptides that have their own unique effects on health, immunity, etc. Some of these
subfractions are only found in very small amounts.

In truth, the subfractions are really what ultimately makes whey the unique protein it is. Due to the nature of the ion exchange process, the most valuable and health promoting components are selectively depleted..."

A micro/ultrafiltration isolate is the concentrate without the carbs and fat.

I work out at Gold's Gym and they let me buy Isopure Bottles from them, if I buy a case they give me 20% off. Might ask the people you buy singles form if you can buy it by the case with a discount.

Whey-ate a minute....

A couple of question I wants my brothers opinions -

Do you think it is worth the expense of buying isolate as compared to less purified whey? I have been buying isopure because it is easy to mix - I keep it in my trunk.

I know it has no carbs but I am not on a Keto diet

The statement about whey being patented. I would highly doubt it. Whey is just milk protein - I don't think you can patent it. Whey is a buy product of dairy products. For that reason the price is pretty low at the wholesale level.

I drink the Isopure ready made shakes every day, and throw in some scoops of dextrose after a workout. I just go to my nutrition store and buy a case of them. He usually gives me a discount. Its just so easy its rediculous; i never have to mix protein, and i shouldnt if im comming out of the gym. I just wanna pop a bottle and down it.

go ask BigA about protein,he's seems to know his shit .... I always thought if you get good protein, you won't need as much which may be why alot of guys are taking in 4-500 grams day. Where did you hear about it being patented? .. Yeah never mind,i got that from BigA. I just forgot i wrote it. I believe in the saying, "you get what you pay for" ... Yeah sometimes you get screwed and don't even get what you pay for and sometimes you make out and get MORE than you pay for but most of the time You are going to get what you pay for. As long as they are legit companies and one guy is paying $10lb and another is paying $30lb ,it makes you wonder, doesn't it? .. I'd rather spend the extra money on the good stuff then to put the not so good stuff in my body and have alot of it wasted.
