I'm guessing he did not want his daughter to hear the argument and his pushing her outside is being considered domestic violence.

I have never hit a woman, but to be completely honest there have been arguments years ago where someone hit me and I had to restrain them from continuing to hit me. All they had to do was call the cops and start crying and I could be in the same boat this guy is in. We never get the whole story with shit like this. And yea, granted the guy looks like shit, I agree. But when it comes to most arguments and cases of women who think they suffered assault, it's some blown out of proportion bullshit where the woman already had one foot out the door to start with and just needed some ammo to back her case and get the child. Not saying all cases, but there are a lot of good dudes with criminal records who were good husbands and would have been great fathers. I just see it clearly as I get older now. Ok, flame away on me, haha

I think you make very good points. I think a lot of women are very well aware of the double standards when it comes to violence between the sexes. And they (some, not all) have no qualms in taking advantage of situations like these. If the wife pushed her husband outside in the same manner no one would call the cops on her. Nor would any cop come to a man's aid in this type of scenario.
