Low Carb Milk

I just wanted to let everyone know about a low carb milk I found at wal-mart. Its called carbcountdown. There are 4 versions, Regular, 2%, Skim, and Chocolate. All have 3 carbs and 12 protein per 8oz (even the chocolate). The regular has 8 fat, 2% and Chocolate have 4.5 fat. Its sweetened with sucralose so it tastes great. I use the chocolate in my protein drinks and actually look forward to them more than the food that i eat.

BTW it's $2.50/half gallon

Ok, bear (pun intended) with me here. If bodybuilders attempt to eat clean, meaning the least processed and refined foods, then how could a manufactured beverage be any good for us?

I love the new Low Carb Milk myself. I don't drink or use alot of milk but it does taste great. I use it when I eat my fiber one cereal or put it in my oatmeal. Do not go by the expiration date use the half-gallon in less than seven days. It says on the package, once opened drink within 7 days but will have a longer expiration date.

I have tried the shit....was kick ass in my protein shakes....tastes alot like cream to me...didn't think it was as good as real milk, but i'll drink the shit out of it anyway....

I agree. I'm doing a reduced carb diet right now, and using Optimum Whey protein which has very few carbs, but tastes terrible when mixed with water. Tastes great when mixed with this low caqrb milk, both regular and chocolate. $2.79 a half gal. at the Walmart is a little pricey, but for the time being, worth it.

Just like grizz I try to eat as little refined food as possible but when I tried the milk and I am addicted, I dont use alot of it just 1 cup in my morning shake, it cant be that bad for you, considering what some people eat(like wendy's burgerking, mcdonalds etc.)

great

I just tried this stuff for the first time last week, and Im glad to see others have found it too!

I love the stuff. Its basicaly a pre-made protien shake, and it would be great for keto diets . My girl friend loves the stuff two. -Your Endo

The importance of unrefined foods ONLY applies to those foods that LOSE nutritional value after being refined. For example, brown rice is a good unrefined source, but white rice is not a good source, as refining the rice has caused the grain to be stripped. However, if a product is refined and MORE nutritional value is added, then all the better. For example, all whey protein in powder form is refined. It doesnt grow on trees that way. Also, most beef we eat is "refined," that is to say, it has hormones and additives that "organic beef" doesnt have.

Side Note: Implied in your question Grizzly is that refining is inherently bad. Why do you think that? Only because, in many examples such as bread, rice and pasta, it strips nutrients and causes a food to be of a higher glycemic food. If something is refined, causing an improvement in nutrition, then refinement itself is not bad, just refining to remove nutritional value is bad. Hope I have been clear.

Bump for Carb Countdown. It is awesome. I had one glass this morning and mixed in my whey. The glass was about 16 ounces so that was almost 50 grams of protein just in that one glass. And it was good!

What you say makes sense, Mark. I can definitely dig. However, something about lab created food just sticks in my craw. It's kind of like reduced fat foods. Sure, there is less fat, but what did they put into it? In those cases, it's usually sugar.

It's like the low-carb bread that my parents have. How the hell can you have low carb bread? By definition bread is a carb predominant food. The predominant macro nutrient in milk is carbohydrates. It just seems so fucked up. Plus, really, are 8 extra carbs going to kill you? And the fact that they can make low carb chocolate milk? Holy shit don't get me started

LOL, I didnt know they made low-carb bread. Isnt "low-carb bread" an oxymoron? I, like you, am weary of refined products. I stick to meats, unrefined carbs and whole veggies.

The closest thing I eat to a refined food is PAM.

The way I see it, if it ain't broke then dont fix it. Whats wrong with non-processed milk?

Now...if scientists could ever make zero-calorie Cheesecake, then I dont care if they process the shit out of it!

Your friend,

Mark

P.S. How is your diet going Grizzly?
